Due to the recent swine flu concerns, we have been forced to postpone our orphanages trips once again. We will continue to monitor the situation and when approval is given to reinstate our visits, we will post to our website along with our schedule.

CDV Highlights
Career Day
We are having our second Career Day on Saturday May 9 in Ensenada, Mexico. Over 150 students from our 5 southern homes will attend and listen to 10 Mexican professionals, including teachers, firemen, paramedics, graphic designer, psychologist, wine makers, health care, and small business owners. We need your help to sponsor a child for Career Day for $35.00. Education is the key to ending child homelessness. Help us give hope to an orphan child.

CDV- MORE THAN JUST FEEDING KIDS! We continue to make great strides getting our children an education. A recent victory:
Congratulations to Juan and Cristian of the El Faro Orphanage in Tijuana. They received a Mexican federal government scholarship of $1500.00MX for having a grade of at least 8.0 out of a possible 10.0 in their high school classes. Thanks to our new partnership with the COBACH Mexican high school system, our high school students have an opportunity to receive funds to help pay for uniform, shoes, material and transportation. Congratulations Juan and Cristian!

Gracias por su Ayuda (Thanks for your Help) !
- For two weeks, Edison School in Santa Monica collected detergent, diapers, dish soap, bleach, baby wipes, toilet paper, shampoo, gel and much more in honor of Cesar Chavez to benefit the homeless children of Baja. Kids helping kids ... We need all youth to step up to help like the Edison students - Saludos!
- Cat Cuthrell, 7th grader at La Jolla Country Day School, took her community service project to the next level. She made two coin cans, designed a CDV label asking for donations and placed them in her classrooms, teacher lounge, office and where ever someone may drop in some change. She created flyers and posted them around school. In one week she raised $144.00 to help feed hungry children. Another example of kids helping kids.
- Congratulations to Lauren Brashears, a senior at Lutheran High School of Orange County, for receiving a 2009 Disneyland(r) Resort Scholarship for her help in raising over $2000 for CDV. She stood in front of her church asking for help. She spoke to the congregation. Her gratefulness in receiving loving care from others has increased her own desire to take that love and pass it on. Through her volunteer work with Girl Scouts, Key Club and most outstandingly, the Corazon de Vida Foundation, Lauren has discovered new joy and meaning to her life. This inspiring young lady has made several trips to the Hacienda Orphanage in Mexico in order to serve the children. Her leadership has recruited 20 others to join her in this passion, and the results are remarkable. Thanks to her dedication and fundraising efforts, 31 eye exams will be given, 3 pairs of glasses will be issued, a set of school books will be purchased, 50 weeks of kindergarten tuition will be paid for, 7 new uniforms will be distributed, 255 dollars of gasoline will help transport children to and from school, 32 pairs of shoes will protect little feet, and one young child will be supported for an entire year. A great example of kids helping kids.
- Our CDV child sponsors who continue to help us with our mission to feed and support 750 children living at 14 Baja orphanages - we could not do it without you!
