6th Annual Holiday Orphanage Trip And Pledge Drive
On December 6, 2008, 170 volunteers from Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties visited the Hacienda, Sion, Door of Faith and El Faro orphanages bringing good cheer, love and lots of hugs. The kids had a GREAT time and appreciated the visit. Thanks to our volunteers, donors, and trip leaders for your help - we could not have done it without you. Click here and here to see photos of our Holiday Trip! Thank you to everyone who participated in our pledge drive and gathered donations. Your dedication and belief in the work we do in Baja for 750 children at 14 orphanages is much appreciated. We raised over $37,000 on our pledge pages and another $15,000 in other miscellaneous donations. This is excellent considering the economic situation and we thank you on behalf of the children. CDV Orphanage Trip Update
It is with great sadness to announce that we will be postponing orphanage trips until at least March 2009 due to the unrest in Tijuana. Please click here to read our statement regarding these unfortunate circumstances. The children are truly going to miss our visits and this will hinder our ability to generate the proper funds to provide food and water. Please help us by continuing to make pledge pages, have third party events or spread the word about the need for our children. - Lauren Brashears, you are amazing! This senior at Lutheran High School spoke at her church, Red Hill Lutheran, at many church services in December asking and pleading for donations from the congregation for CDV. After the services, she manned a table in front, handed out sponsor and donation forms and in total she collected over $2500.00! Way to go Lauren and thank for setting an example for other young people to help children in need.
- Be The Cause for giving your love, compassion, and your soul to the children of the Casa de Paz Orphanage from December 26 - December 30. Your help in cooking, cleaning, mentorship, and being a friend to 45 children will stay with them forever. Gracias! If you would like to organize an overnight trip to one of our Southern orphanages, please email george@corazondevida.org.
- Ford Modeling Agency - The Ford Models had their Holiday Party benefiting CDV at the Crown Bar in Hollywood and they had a FULL HOUSE. Over 250 party goers attended, bringing in the good times all the while helping feed the kids. They raised over $9,000! Lot's of kids will be eating because of your decision to help.
- Our Pledge Drive Angels - Thank you to these special, dedicated volunteers who stood up and said "I can make a difference". They created a pledge page in 2008 and collected over $1000.00: Richard Levisfitzgerald, Beatriz Preciado, Tricia Shelton, Alexa Rae-Navarro, Patricia Ryan, Angela Mangone, Mike Alves, and Mariel Witmond.
