CDV 6th Annual Holiday Pledge Drive & Orphanage Trip! Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008
CDV will have 4 busses departing Los Angeles, Irvine, Riverside and San Diego to visit 4 different orphanages bringing Holiday spirit and good cheer to the children. Please check the schedule and register for a bus. Do not forget to bring your smiles, arms to hug and Holiday spirit.
This is also a major fundraiser for CDV and ask that each volunteer raise or donate at least $60 to help us feed the children. Help us reach our goal of $75,000 by creating an online pledge campaign and mail out your personal link to everyone in your address book. Campaign will be available until December 31. Download the flyer and send to family and friends. Print out the pledge pages to keep track of the cash you collect. Remember - we are feeding kids...help us make a difference. Party at Your House - For Thanksgiving, please make a collection for our children at your home this year. For Christmas, remember the children who will not have gifts under the tree or enough to eat. In lieu of gifts, have your family and friends donate to CDV instead. The best gift you can receive is the gift of helping others. The Ford Modeling Agency will have their Holiday Party at the Crown Bar in Hollywood this year with proceeds benefiting Corazon de Vida. Companies are donating super cool items for the goody bag that could rival what will be handed out at the Oscars. A sold out event is expected - Way to go Ford Models! Welcome Irene Samadoff to the CDV Family! The Corazon de Vida Foundation is pleased to announce the hiring of Irene Samadoff as our bookkeeper and accountant. She comes with many years experience as a financial analyst and will be an important part of the CDV Family. She will also help us with administrative duties, orphanage support and wear many hats. Alex is a long time CDV amigo who recently quit her job to volunteer her time to help CDV help the kids. She will plan events and assist with administration. Orphanage Updates
La Roca Dental Mission
On October 25, 17 dentists, hygienists, RDA, translators, and doctors visited the La Roca Orphanage in Tijuana to help the children of the home, the La Roca school and the neighbors in getting their teeth checked. The dentists worked on over 40 patients in the La Roca clinic. For many of the children and teenagers, it was their first time seeing a dentist and even though many were scared and nervous, most opened their mouth for the examination. At the end of the day, everyone was very tired, but went home knowing that they made a difference in the lives of many children. Thank you to Dr. Clara Lee for organizing our 6th dental mission to help the children of CDV.

Hacienda Construction
A HUGE thank you to Capstone Missions of Twin Falls, Idaho for their work at the Hacienda in October. A team of 12 volunteers drove from Idaho and installed an emergency exit for the dorm that sleeps 80 children, constructed a lunch patio so the school children do not eat in the rain or hot sun, a wash basin, repaired the school roof, and installed storage shelves. Congratulations to the Ebenezer Quinceanera's! On October 18, Perla Rubi, Hilda Judith, Maria Elena, and Elizabeth Azucena celebrated their Quinceanera. This important Mexican rite of passage is a tradition that most orphanages try to keep up if possible. The girls will have this memory for the rest of their lives even though they live at an orphanage. Thank you to Ebenezer directors Pastor Freddy and Eva for making dreams come true. |

The money she collected and ran 26 miles for will help CDV feed many children.
