Thank you to all of our volunteers for making such wonderful videos of the kids and homes!

Greetings!
Our CDV homes are experiencing several changes this summer with our ongoing building projects! We've updated the library for Pastor Miguel at La Roca, an industrial strength kitchen was just installed for Madre Virginia at Hacienda and we have a ribbon cutting ceremony down in Ensenada at Rancho El Faro which will be featured in next month's newsletter.

We also have quite a few exciting new changes at CDV this fall, starting with our long overdue web site facelift! The new site will contain exciting new features and images, so please keep an eye out for an email introducing the new and improved www.corazondevida.org within the next few
weeks.

Please let us know what you think of our changes in the new CDV blog section.

Sponsor a child!
A little money goes a long way in Baja, Mexico. Just $62.50 a month can feed a child and provide for their utilities and most basic needs. Help us start at the beginning - one child at a time. Any amount helps!

You have the power to make a difference in a child's life. Your donation could possibly change everything for one child. Help change a child's life and become a child sponsor. Click here for more information.

Orphanage Updates
The Hacienda Orphanage in Tijuana has over 100 children and serves more than 300 meals a day. Thanks to a generous grant from a charitable foundation, we were able to replace the old appliances with commercial quality equipment. Some additions to the kitchen are: a new range with 6 burners, 2 ovens and a 36" griddle, a 3 container sink with a flexible faucet, and 2 stainless steel work tables!

RE Cares is a dedicated and enthusiastic group of employees and their affiliates from Reed Elsevier in San Diego who support both the Hacienda and La Roca homes. Reed Elsevier's spring funding granted San Diego RE Cares $10,000 for the La Roca Orphanage.

The small onsite La Roca library was upgraded to better meet the needs of the La Roca Primary School students. On August 21st, RE employees and their family and friends cleaned and organized the area for the library. They also assembled furniture, organized books, installed ceiling fans, hung window treatments and set up a computer room. Thank you!

CDV Kids
Thanks to a generous CDV donor, Jennifer, a 6 year old at the El Faro Orphanage, can now see! Unable to see since birth, she recently underwent eye surgery to remove cataracts.  Opthamologist Dr. Wright from Los Angeles performed the surgery in a Tijuana clinic. Click here to watch a short video of her taking her first steps after recovery!

Fundraising Ideas
CDV volunteers Melissa and Cory have created an online donation campaign to help raise money for CDV and the children of Baja while they compete in a triathlon. Their miles on the street, in the water and on bicycles will be difficult, but they are doing it for the kids. Please donate to support them.
Great idea Melissa and Cory - we hope you come in first place!

"Have a Party, Feed Kids!"  Host an end of summer BBQ and in lieu of gifts, have family and friends donate to your charity - CDV! Rent out a club for free on a slow Tuesday night, get the owner to make money on food and drinks, have a band donate their talent and "have a concert, feed kids."
