Team Talk October 2008
General Assembly 2009 Edition
Greetings!
The General Assembly and Conventions convenes every four years, bringing together up to 30,000 Nazarenes from 151 world areas. For the very first time, Central Florida District will host this event. It will be held at the Orange County Convention Center (North/South Building) Orlando, Florida June 24-July 3, 2009. You will have a unique opportunity to join with fellow Nazarenes from literally around the world for legislative sessions; worship services; exhibits; workshops; service projects; and fellowship. Translation of most general sessions will be offered in the following languages:
Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese & Spanish
While voting is restricted to only those officially-elected delegates, General Assembly and Conventions is open to the everyone.
Nazarenes believe their presence in a city must be shown in more than room block pick-up, restaurants and vendors. As in General Assemblies before, GA2009 will be preceded by a community-wide service project. One Heart, Many Hands will see over 3,000 Nazarenes in community service to Orlando. The week-long effort will work to benefit needy city groups and communities, all designed to leave a lasting and eternal mark on the city.
So begin now to plan and to Save the Date for GA2009.
Sincerely,
Dr. Larry D. Dennis, Central Florida District Superintendent |

For Orlando 2009, we anticipate at least 3000 volunteers working on no less than 160 different service projects. Over the course of 5 days, we're making ourselves available to repair homes in low-income neighborhoods, cleaning parks, painting community and senior centers and much more.
