Franko Group Newsletter
Greetings!

The Franko Group is dedicated to helping you fulfill your mission and goals.  Whether you need support facilitating an important meeting, moving toward professional goals, or researching a particular policy or program issue, we are here for YOU.  We hope you enjoy our monthly newsletter and some of the tips it provides for individuals and organizations that want to make a difference in the world.
Three Ways to Insure a Successful Meeting
Like 'em or not, meetings are an important part of doing business in the public and non-profit arenas.  Meetings foster collaboration among sometimes diverse stakeholders.  They insure that all the players involved in a particular project are on the same page.  And sometimes, they are necessary to resolve conflicts or misunderstandings.

So what can you do to make sure your meetings are a good use of time?  Here are three key strategies to insure a successful meeting:
  1. Identify a clear meeting purpose. Meetings have to have a clear purpose to be effective. Know ahead of time what outcome you are trying to achieve with the meeting and communicate that purpose to everyone involved.
  2. Make sure the right people are present.  Be sure to invite (and secure the attendance of) key decision makers, anyone who might be affected by decisions, and anyone who is likely to derail decisions if they are not included.
  3. Fully engage everyone who is there. Structure your meetings so that all in attendance have an opportunity to participate in a meaningful way.  If people are taking the time to come, make sure their voice is heard as much as anyone else in the room.

And above all else, have some fun!  Meetings do not have to be boring.  They are a great opportunity to engage others is your mission and goals.  So go out there and meet!

Coaching Corner
glasses_integrity What gives you energy? All of us have activities, people or situations that make us feel more motivated and inspired -- they fill us up.  What energizes you?

I invite you to try this: Write down at least five things -- activities, people, places, situations -- that give you energy.  Next to each item, draw or cut and paste pictures of those things you've identified.

Hang your list and pictures somewhere you can see it each day.  Maybe next to your computer or on the bathroom mirror.  What specific steps can you commit to take over the next month to bring these energizing elements into your life? Take those steps in the next 30 days!

Your reward will be greater motivation and productivity, and a work life filled with more joy.  Have a great March!
We hope you enjoyed this issue of The Franko Group Newsletter.  If you have ideas for articles or workshops you'd like to see from us in the future, please let us know.  We want to provide you with value so you can fulfill your mission!

Sincerely,
