LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Greetings Everyone!

I want to thank everyone for coming to our last meeting at Switch.  They were wonderful hosts and we all learned so much about advertising and promoting our businesses.  I especially want to thank Webster University for thinking of us and bringing a whole class of Media students to out meeting.  We love meeting students and introducing them to the professionals who are doing the work these students are studying!

Next month, we get to go to Missouri Baptist University and meet a whole new crop of students when we discuss how to get the right look for your production. Productions are complicated and we are going to help you bring all the pieces together, don't miss this special meeting in October.

In October, I am going into production on my next film, which is set in the 1970's.  Finding the right location became a unique challenge.  I reached out into the community and looked at quite a few houses.  I needed a house where someone had not updated their windows, had kept their bathroom fixtures the same, and maybe had some avocado green in their color scheme.  I was so fortunate to find that perfect house but others are lost in how to begin to look for the right location.

Coming up soon is a bonus MCA event that you can't afford to miss if you are looking for the right location or you just want to be inspired by what is out there.  Elly Smith of Elly's Doghouse is working with MCA to organize a walking tour to show YOU empty houses that might be right for your location and will be right for your budget.  Watch your email for this bonus MCA event and we will keep you in the loop.

Enjoy all the fall colors and we will see you all at the next MCA meeting!!

PRODUCTION NOTES

Shadowland signs a deal for International Distribution! "Shadowland" has been out on DVD in the U.S. for almost a year now and is doing really well, but we have just solved another piece of the distribution puzzle: we are proud to announce that we have just secured international distribution for "Shadowland" with Ted Chalmers and his TomCat Films. Ted, while with another company, distributed our first feature film internationally, "Guardian of the Realm", and he is a trusted collaborator, something we've searched for long and hard during distribution.  Ted will be taking "Shadowland" to the American Film Market in November, and is currently committed to taking it to Cannes next spring as well as other film markets.  So, hopefully, all of you who have seen the film in festivals around the world will now be able to own your own copy.  We enjoy it when people around the U.S. send us photos of "Shadowland" on video store shelves, now maybe we can get some of those pictures from international vendors!
