NEXT MCA MEETING - SEPTEMBER 8

Lights, Camera, ACTION..!!

There is a reason they call it "Action" -- it's all about movement... and at our September MCA Meeting, we are going to see some movement.

Dave Rutherford, local camera operator and DP, will show us the camera in action and how to work a scene with a moving camera.  He will be showing us some techniques with a Steadicam rig, and possibly dolly tracks and jib arm.

Along with that action, Dave will also be sharing with us the moving camera when working with Stunts.  Dave has worked on motion pictures shot in the US as well as movies filmed in other countries and will be showing us clips from some of those films, demonstrating how crazy stunts can get when there is very little regulation.

On the flip side of that, local stuntman Brian Peters will be on hand to work with Dave and talk about doing stunts and working within the union rules of the United States.

Please come join us for this exciting and "action"-packed MCA Meeting on Wednesday, September 8.

DATE: Wednesday, September 8

TIME: Networking begins at 6:30pm and meeting starts at 7pm

PLACE: tbd

COST:  Free for members of the MCA

$10 for non-members

$ 5 for students

JULY MEETING IN REVIEW

Big Bash A Rousing Success

For July, the MCA participated with 12 other local professional organizations for a party and networking event at the Cabanne House in Forest Park.  It turned out to be a rousing success, as many MCA members and fellow travelers were able to meet, network with, and party with business professionals from throughout the area.

The feedback we received, everyone had a great time.  The

$15 price included all the beer and wine you could drink, delicious treats from several area eating establishments, including the Dice's Ices, the Fountain on Locust, Miss Piggie's Smokehouse, and Noodles & Co.  The J. Monet Trio provided the music.

The consensus was that everyone had a great time meeting, eating, drinking, mingling, and exchanging business cards.

As the MCA usually doesn't schedule an event in July, this could well become an annual event for us.

The Hollywood Outsiders is an entertaining, informative internet based show created by John M. Dunlap of South City Flix Productions. John hosts the show, along with fellow writer/actor, Nicholas J. Hearne. Together, Nick and John have set out to keep tabs on Hollywood's latest big screen offerings, along with recent DVD releases. As they like to say, "we're two guys on a mission to make sure you never have to sit through another lousy movie."  Whenever possible, the Hollywood Outsiders like to shine the spotlight on local film folk making quality, independent films right here in the midwest.  So, if you are a local filmmaker - or know a local filmmaker - with a project in the works, or recently finished and ready for the world, John would love to hear from you and set up a time and place to help you get the word out about your upcoming film. The Hollywood Outsiders would really like to see the focus of the show shift to more of an equal balance between mainstream reviews and local film spotlights.  Check out the Hollywood Outsiders at http://www.youtube.com/StLFilmReviewShow and you can find them on their Facebook page. Be sure to subscribe to both the youtube channel and the Facebook page so you don't miss an exciting episode!  To contact John about appearing on the show and shining the spotlight on your film project, send an e-mail to: JMD1974@gmail.com
