JOIN US AT THE BIGGEST NETWORKING EVENT OF THE YEAR
On Thursday, July 15, hundreds of St. Louis business professionals, from at least a dozen different organizations, will gather at the famous Cabanne House in Forest Park to eat, drink, and exchange business cards. The host of the event is the St. Louis Ambassadors.
Since MCA doesn't usually schedule an event of our own in July, we thought it would be great to join forces with other professional groups taking part in the Big Bash. These groups include the St. Louis chapter of Yellow-Tie International, Public Relations Society of America, the American Marketing Association, and the Missouri Venture Forum, among others.
The cost is only $15 ($20 at the door), and that includes all the beer, wine, and food you want, as well as some superb local musical entertainment. I went to it last year and had a blast -- it's a great opportunity to meet and mingle with people, not only in your own industry, but outside of it.
The event will be held, rain or shine. In the event of bad weather, we'll simply gather in tents and inside the historic Cabanne House. Several St. Louis television stations will be covering the event. If there's ever been a must-attend business networking event in St. Louis, this is it.
To register -- and get the low $15 ticket -- simply go to www.bigbash.org.
Scroll down the list of participating organizations, click on the circle in front of Media Communications Association, scroll down and fill in the company name you want on your nametag, then scroll down again and click on the yellow "Pay Now" tab. You can pay using any major credit card. All funds will go to pay for costs of the event, and any extra will go to a local charity.
Parking is available on Lindell and in Forest Park. You'll receive an e-mail just before the event which will have information on a shuttle bus to nearby parking lots.
Business attire -- meaning whatever you wear to work -- is the dress of the day, as this is mostly an outdoor event. Reserve your spot today, and be part of the premier business-connection event of the season!
DATE: Thursday, July 15
PLACE: Cabanne House, 5300 Lindell Blvd. (near Union), Forest Park, 63112
TIME: 5:30 PM until 9:00 PM
COST: $15 in advance; $20 at the event
To sign up in advance, or to find out more, go to www.bigbash.org. Advance registration will end at 5:00 PM the day before the event (July 14), so make your reservations now. |

Mike Ketcher has been busy working on several projects.
Mike recently signed on as Line Producer for the feature-length documentary, "Joe's Place," directed by Matt Seilback. It tells the story of a one-of-a-kind home for homeless teenage boys, located in Maplewood, MO. Joe's Place provides a caring, supervised family-like environment to help the troubled teens get through high school. "Joe's Place" has received international attention, including an article in the "Christian Science Monitor," and other communities are looking at it as a pilot project for their school district. Mike reports that a major international star, David Oyelowo, has agreed to do the narration for "Joe's Place." Oyelowo, a British actor of Nigerian descent started his career with the Royal Shakespeare Company and starred in the Oscar-nominated film, "The Last King of Scotland." He played Muddy Waters in the 2008 film, "Who Do You Love" (aka "Chess"), and was the male lead in Kenneth Branagh's Shakespearean comedy, "As You Like It." He will be playing Martin Luther King in the 2011 film, "Selma," which will be directed Oscar-winner Lee Daniels ("Precious") and star Robert de Niro, Hugh Jackman, and Liam Neeson. "Joe's Place" is in post-production, with assistance being provided by Smith-Lee Studios. Mike said that the film is seeking tax-deductible donations of any size to provide the funding to complete the project. For information, you can contact him directly: michael_ketcher@yahoo.com.
Mike also has news and updates on several other projects he's been involved in lately:
-- The documentary Mike worked on last year for AT&T U-verse, "The Cause with Ali Larter," is now online. Ms. Larter, who stars in the NBC series "Hereoes," hosted the documentary. It profiles a St. Louis-based program, Project Peanut Butter, which offers great hope in fighting childhood malnutrition in Africa and the rest of the developing world.
Mike worked on the St. Louis crew, along with Bart Elfrink and Dave Berliner. The St. Louis portion of the program begins about half-way through the half-hour documentary, which you can view here:

-- Mike also did casting for Theresa Miller's powerful, Telly-Award-winning PSA, "Metamorphisis." Congratulations to Theresa for recently winning that Silver Telly (the highest level Telly). Mike said it was one of the most challenging casting jobs he's had, as he had to find an attractive actress with a full set of dentures that she was willing to remove and appear on camera. Matt Corrado, Michael Lowhorn, Laurent Torno, and Rick Gould also worked on the piece, which was shot at Avatar Studios. Theresa wrote and produced the piece and did the amazing make-up job. You can see the spot here:

-- Mike also did additional casting for some pick-up scenes in the feature film, "Thanxgiving," a reboot of the 2006 film, directed by Bobby Ray Akers, which will have some additional footage and new scenes added. This "Director's Cut" stars Ari Lehman (the original Jason from "Friday the 13th," Cody Matthew Blymire, noted horror writer/actor Joe Knetter, and several St. Louis actors including Suki Peters and Jason Contini. Mike also has a role in the film. The film will be released on DVD on October 5th.
-- "Abbey of Thelema," a low-budget indie feature, in which Mike played the infamously wicked Aleister Crowley, is now available on DVD. Copies are available here: http://www.aleistercrowleybooks.com/index.html |
