Greetings!

STLMCA logo
As I've said in many past newsletters, there are many benefits to being a member of MCA - or even just attending our events -  but at our summer party last month it was even more obvious.  I don't think I've seen so many contacts being made, business opportunities opening for people, or advice given in candid conversation.  It was great to see this great exchange taking place under one roof.  Where else could this take place?  I really can't think of another opportunity like it here in St. Louis...

I really think the greatest asset to attending and being a member of our organization is making contacts and learning from each other.  I know that I've gained a wealth of information from just talking to others in our industry and it's helped me tremendously professionally.  I hope you take advantage of what we have to offer and if you're not, I encourage you to start now.

To sign up for membership or to see what other benefits MCA can offer you, check out www.mca-i.org.

PSA Editing Showcase at Next MCA Meeting   Stray Rescue

One of our most popular meetings of the last two years has been our editing showcase.

In it, you'll see what happens when different people, using the same raw footage, edit a 30-second spot.  You'll see how four unique messages result from the individual perspectives of the editors.  The final DVD will be usable for a Public Service Announcement for a local charity.

At these editing showcases we choose a local charity for the PSA.  This showcase is for Stray Rescue (www.strayrescue.org).  Many of Stray Rescue's pets have been abused and neglected; they've been dumped on highways or remote country roads or abandoned in public parks, empty houses, and dark alleys.  Stray Rescue's purpose is to rescue stray animals in need of medical attention, restore them to health, and place them in loving adoptive homes.

Alex FeesBe sure to pick up your copy of the latest St. Louis Magazine. The annual "A List" edition named KSDK reporter and TalentPlus Exclusive Alex Fees as the Outstanding Journalist in St. Louis. Known and celebrated for his impeccable, distinct ability to cover both hard and soft news, the St. Louis native and recent Emmy winner has been featured on a number of NBC affiliates as well as several NBC-owned nationally broadcasted cable networks.

Jimmy McEvoyEager theatre aficionados braved the record-breaking August heat and flocked to the historic Muny in St. Louis to see what critics labeled "the show of the summer," Les Miserables. Though the Victor Hugo classic is one of the most celebrated and renowned musicals in classical theatre, this production is the first of its kind in the Muny's illustrious history. The musical featured several show-stopping performances including TalentPlus' own Jimmy McEvoy as Gavroche, the tough and mischievous youth. McEvoy even received a praiseworthy byline in Judith Newmark's St. Louis Post Dispatch review.
