Warm Weather Is Here, Time To Volunteer!

Arbrey House Reception and Tour, May 23, 6-8 p.m. -
This is a great chance to see this beautiful and historic NW Portland home! A few volunteers are still needed to help as house monitors, reception helpers, greeters.                           
Do you enjoy art and use Microsoft Excel? 
We need your help for a few hours this week or next. 

Art Show Set Up, May 31 -
Help set up our June art show, featuring Michelle Van Orsow. Work starts at 10:30 a.m.

First Friday Reception, June 1 -
Volunteers needed to help with food and beverage service, set up, clean up, greeting guests, retail sales, 5:30-8:30 p.m.

We are accepting proposals for solo and small group art exhibits for 2013 and 2014.

Interested artists can email barbarap@visitahc.org for information on our exhibits and details for applying. Artists are also encouraged to attend one of our First Friday art openings to see how it all works.

All of the art was created under the guidance of artist and teacher, Sue Lau who organized the special classes during her April solo exhibit at the AHC.
Sue has several fantastic mixed media pieces on exhibit in this show.

Hal Ayotte

Portland architect
Hal S. Ayotte
is the recipient of the University of Oregon's
2012 George McMath Award
. His expertise and guidance in preservation efforts on some of the Northwest's most notable historic treasures earned him high praise and recognition.

 

The awards ceremony will take place Wednesday, May 30 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the UO in Portland White Stag Block at 70 N.W. Couch Street.  Tickets to the award luncheon are $50 with proceeds supporting financial aid for historic preservation students.

Irvington Home Tour

The Irvington Home Tour is a special day where the neighborhood shows their pride in wonderful Historic Irvington. The Home Tour is the sole source of revenue for the neighborhood association, which uses the funds exclusively to support local charities and neighborhood projects.  CJ Hurley will present Arts & Crafts Architecture and its Connection to Nature offering an overview of the International influences that affected the Arts & Crafts Movement.

Mid-Century Marvelous Home Tour - The Rummer Homes of Bohmann Park

This year's tour celebrates SW Portland's Bohmann Park neighborhood comprised almost entirely of the distinctive - and wildly sought after - homes of Robert Rummer. The tour will showcase eight homes including the one Rummer built for himself, and the current owners have invited him to spend the day chatting with tour goers.

Annual Heritage Auction   


The Auction is October 20th, but it is not too early to start planning!

Do you have some time to donate and skills that would be valuable to our committee? We need several people to join the committee and we have a spot for you! Roles,  responsibilities and time commitment vary depending on the position and on your skills and interests. If you are starting spring cleaning and have donations, let us know.  Receiving donations for the auction early helps us plan better!
