Dosch Event

The AHC is pleased to offer a one-time visit in honor of National Historic Preservation Month to the historic Colonel Henry and Mary Dosch home and gardens, thanks to the generous hospitality of Dosch family descendant Jim Driscoll. The grand Hillsdale-area country home, designed by Joseph Jacobberger in 1892, is surrounded by spacious grounds which include many heritage trees. In addition to viewing the home and grounds and enjoying refreshments, you will learn about the home's significant interior from Bo Sullivan, Rejuvenation historian and principal of Arcalus Period Design and about Dosch family history from Jeffer Daykin, who curated an exhibit on the family for the Multnomah County Library. Pre-registration by members is required. The address will be provided to you when you register. Not a member yet? Join now to attend this special event.

Yard Sale to Benefit the AHC!

Get your spring cleaning on and donate those gently-used but unwanted items to help support AHC programs and operations! We are having a yard sale on Saturday, June 4 in the Beaumont-Wilshire area. Pricing the items ahead of time would be greatly appreciated. Donations can be dropped off on June 2 and 3 (Thursday and Friday prior to the sale). Contact hollyc@VisitAHC.org with questions and to receive the address to which to take the items. Many thanks!

Historic Preservation & The Portland Plan

Please mark your calendars and plan to attend two very important symposia on Historic Resources.

#1 FRIDAY, May 20th, 9:00AM - 12:00 Noon
1900 SW 4th Avenue (City of Portland Development Services building)

#2 FRIDAY, June 17th, 9:00AM - 11:30AM

The intent of these sessions is to identify historic preservation policy issues, from the views of important stakeholders including the Landmarks Commission, property owners and developers, preservation advocates, including our own Executive Director Cathy Galbraith, and others. This will take place at Session #1.

A great turnout is absolutely essential. Check back to our website for more detailed announcements.
