Art Exhibit Opening Reception
Fostering Harmony: The Symbiotic Relationship of
Architecture and NatureOpening Reception: Friday, November 5th Community Conversations: Nov. 10, 18, 26; Dec 9, 17
The balance between the built environment and the natural environment is frequently strained. The natural environment simply exists without manipulation; however, the built environment requires cutting into and reshaping the natural one. The introduction of architecture and the man-made built environment into the natural environment is often viewed as an intrusion, and taken in a negative light, especially when it is done insensitively. Mismanagement, shortsightedness, and greed have taken their toll on the natural world. While circumstances created by the architectural and man-made environment have undoubtedly strained the relationship between the built and natural worlds, there is also much to celebrate when the two worlds merge. True beauty can result when the two worlds of nature and architecture come together. The purpose of this exhibition is to explore various perspectives and interpretations of what happens when the built environment and the natural environment successfully meet.

The AHC Loves our Interns!
Interns help make our world go round here at the AHC; we can't do all we do without them!
We'd like to say a hearty thank you and best wishes to our summer interns, Zander Veith (marketing) and Kari Newhouse (website). They both completed their internships this past week and are now out in the world seeking their first full time jobs of their career. Each leaves the AHC with new knowledge and excellent references. If you know of job opportunities suitable to either of them, please let us know and we can pass the word on to them.
Last week, we welcomed our new fall marketing intern, Slade Leeson. Slade will be working with us on a variety of programs and has a substantial list of learning objectives for his 15 week internship.
"I am excited to be interning at the AHC because I have the
chance to help promote some great programs and work with great people." |

PRESERVATION QUOTES
"The past is not the property of historians; it is a public possession. It belongs to anyone who is aware of it, and it grows by being shared. It sustains the whole society, which always needs the identity that only the past can give." -- With Heritage So Rich, 1966
