Civil engineer and builder Conde Balcom McCullough left an awe-inspiring legacy of bridge design in Oregon that is impressive on an international scale. Business Member Spotlight
AHC Business Members provide products and services pertinent to historic preservation and period-authentic renovation, and they support the mission and goals of our organization. Please consult the Resource Directory on our website and patronize these businesses first when you need professional services for your home projects. Spotlight: The mission of Space Down Under is the preservation of Portland's older homes and the craftsmanship within them. Their goal is to help homeowners increase living space under the home while preserving the existing structure and heritage. Space Down Under prides themselves on doing this "invisibly" - providing structural restoration while maintaining the historic details of the period. They practice Old world craftsmanship utilizing 21st century technology. Many of their clients have older Portland homes built on concrete or brick foundations that are now crumbling and failing. Rather than tearing down a beautiful old home, they actively encourage people to save their heritage and protect their most important investment: to think of themselves as stewards of their homes rather than owners. We asked Jane at Space Down Under why being a member of the AHC is important to her and the rest of the team: "Our commitment to local community and preservation of our neighborhoods meant a perfect fit for us with the AHC's goals and aspirations for local businesses and home owners. We were fortunate to be asked recently to co-present for "Invisible Additions" - one of the many wonderful educational programs offered by the AHC."For more information visit: www.spacedownunder.com |

There's sure to be a project that inspires you!
