Volunteers Needed for
Kitchen Revival Tour

The roster is filling up rapidly, but volunteers are still needed for our Kitchen Revival Tour on April 10th.

This popular event requires many volunteers to serve as house monitors, day-of-event office helpers and pre-tour assistants (in other words, everything that happens before the tour!).  This is your chance to view some fabulous kitchens and help the AHC at the same time.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Kitchen Revival Tour, please contact Ita Lindquist, Volunteer Coordinator, at
ital@visitahc.org
or 503-231-7264.

Last call!
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at AHC, don't forget to RSVP for
Volunteer Orientation
on Saturday, March 13, from 12:30-1:30 pm.  Contact Ita Lindquist, as noted above.

A surprising number of buildings in Portland once housed movie theaters and their stories are full of artistry and personalities.  Come find out this and much, much more about the history of theaters in the "Rose City" from Steve Stone (theater historian extraordinaire) and Mike Mathews, who have researched Portland's theater world in depth. Their presentation will touch on theater history nationally, and its history in Portland from the 1905 Arcade Theater, through the Depression, and end of vaudeville, and into the 1960s.

On Exhibit through March 29th.
For more information, click here

Stephen KorbichArchitect and artist, Stephen Korbich lives and works in Portland and has used our wonderful cityscape as inspiration for his upcoming show "Crossings".

While he has always been artistic and dabbled in many different mediums, it was not until recently that he decided to pick up the brush in a more dedicated fashion.

Stephen KorbichA big thanks to everyone who joined us for the opening reception last Friday.  Stephen and his family hosted a lovely evening and guests were quick to purchase many of the pieces on exhibit!

SUSTAINABILITY TIP FOR MEMBERS

Help the AHC be more environmentally sustainable by renewing your membership promptly! Timely responses make your membership contributions go farther because they save paper, postage, and volunteer and staff time. You can even send in your dues or renew on-line prior to receiving a mailed notice by checking the renewal date noted on your newsletter mailing label.

With an especially challenging economy, we are trying to be even more respectful of every dollar shared with us by members. There is usually about a one-month interval between us sending out first and second renewal notices. If you know that you will be renewing, but doing so a little late, drop an email to hollyc@VisitAHC.org to stop that second notice in its tracks.

Thank you so much for your contributions and participation. Every membership matters!

Meyer Memorial Trust Gallery

Artifacts + Archives illustrates the essential connection between paper-based archival materials in our collections and the artifacts themselves.

This exhibit draws upon the Foundation's ever-expanding artifacts and archives collections, with emphasis on items that have not been seen by the public, including photographs, architectural drawings, maps, personal papers, and rare books.

The Portland Plan

The next Portland Plan workshop is scheduled for this month. If you have not attended one of these meetings yet, make sure you have it on your calendar for March.  In the meantime, all residents interested in the future of our city and our communities should complete the online survey from the city. The survey can be found here

The deadline has been extended to March 31st.  Please let the City know that you care about our historic neighborhoods.
