ISB Receives 2012 MLK Community Service Award

MLK Award

 

ISB was awarded the 2012 "Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Service Award" by Emory University on January 19, 2012. 

  

"The Islamic Speakers Bureau works to counter misinformation and negativity by engaging and educating Americans about Islam," said Emory's Muslim Student Association (MSA) President Asad Abdulla, who presented the ISB with the "Innovation For Change" award.

 

Executive Director Soumaya Khalifa attended the event and accepted the award on ISB's behalf.  "This is so exciting for us," said Khalifa. "This is a very significant honor for our organization."  Read more...

ISB Brings Eid Celebration To Imagine It! Children's Museum

The ISB continued its tradition of visiting the Imagine It! Children's Museum to help children celebrate Muslim holidays. As part of the "Meet the Holidays Programming," representatives of different faiths are invited to the museum to feature their their respective holiday seasons. ISB speaker Jelena Naim has been visiting the museum since 2007 to help children celebrate the Eid ul-Adha holiday, and since 2010 for Eid ul-Fitr holiday.  Read more...
