The Jewish And Muslim Communities

One of ISB's most important inter-religious engagement has been its growing work with Jewish faith based organizations, and 2011-2012 saw an increase of joint promotional events that helped educate the Muslim and Jewish communities about their commonalities.
- On November 20, 2011, the ISB participated in a building bridges event at The Temple commemorating the "Weekend of Twinning," a global initiative during which Muslims and Jews come together to denounce religious bigotry. Atlanta has been a participant in "Twinning" events for the past four years.
- On January 21, 2012, Imam Plemon El-Amin represented the ISB in a panel discussion hosted by the Jewish Federation of Greater Chattanooga in Tennessee. The discussion themed "Stairways to Heaven" focussed on the beliefs of each panelist's faith tradition in regards to heaven and the after life. Other panelists included a rabbi, a Greek Orthodox priest, and a Baptist lay preacher.
- On March 25, 2012, the ISB sponsored an interfaith art event at Emory University bringing
together the talents of Muslim and Jewish students, professional artists, performers and a Jewish-Muslim comedy duo in a show titled, "Stand Up for Peace." "The Beauty of Unity" Interfaith Art Gala was presented by Emory University's Muslim Student Association and the Hillel Jewish student organization. The interfaith art event received national coverage and was awarded the "Emory 2011-2012 Best Social/ Entertainment Program of the Year Award" and was also featured on CNN.com on April 26, 2012.
