In 2011-2012, the ISB partnered with numerous Christian faith-based organizations in an effort to promote an environment of unity. The interfaith gatherings made it possible for the Muslim and Christian communities to engage in meaningful conversations.
- On March 18, 2012, the ISB and the East Cobb Islamic Center (ECIC) were hosted by East
Cobb United Methodist Church (East Cobb UMC) in a first of a two-part presentation series. ISB speaker and Board Member Dr. Asif Saberi was one of the lead coordinators of the interfaith engagement effort. A total of 134 people from the ECIC and the East Cobb UMC attended the "Children of Abraham Series" during which ISB Executive Director Soumaya Khalifa conducted a presentation titled "Exploring Muslim Traditions and Practices." The program started with welcoming remarks from Pastor Brian Germano, followed by the presentation, then a Q & A session and ending with time for "fellowship," during which an informal discussion took place between members of the two faiths. For the second part of the "Children of Abraham Series," the ECIC hosted the East Cobb UMC on April 29, 2012 for a similar presentation.
- On May 17, 2012, the ISB participated in an interfaith gathering aimed at promoting an
environment of unity between the Baptist and Muslim communities. The co-sponsored event, which was hosted by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia (CBF/GA) Interfaith Task Force and leaders of the Muslim Community, was attended by 30 individuals, including members of the CBF/GA and the Muslim community at large. Participants included Al Farooq Masjid of Atlanta, the ISB and the Turkish communities. Also in attendance were ISB Executive Director Soumaya Khalifa and ISB Speakers Zaheer Faruqi and Amin Tomeh. "The intent of the gathering was to build a working relationship between the CBF and the Muslim communities," said Tomeh.
