Speaker Spotlight
 Amin Tomeh
ISBA
has more than 30 trained, certified volunteer speakers who represent
various professional, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds. Our Speaker
Spotlight section is meant to provide some insight into the backgrounds
and thoughts of our speakers.
This month, we are speaking with Amin Tomeh, who keeps busy as a husband, father, and geotechnical engineer. Amin is also the owner of a successful engineering firm and an adjunct instructor at Gwinnett Technical College.
Speaker Spotlight: Amin, what led you to become an ISBA speaker?
Amin: After attending a Building Bridges Awards Dinner, I was very impressed with the mission and vision of the ISBA. I also knew members of the organization, who encouraged me to attend a speakers' training session. I became certified in 2005.
Speaker Spotlight: You are one of the ISBA's most proficient speakers and you've also brought administrative experience to the organization. Did your background in engineering help?
Amin: As an engineer and project manager, I communicate with contractors, clients, and team members. I also run a firm, which requires administrative skills. However, I believe that the ISBA has done more for me than I've done for the organization, both professionally and personally.
Speaker Spotlight: How so?
Amin: Professionally, the fact that the ISBA has trained me so well has enabled me to seamlessly take the adjunct instructor faculty position at Gwinnett Technical College. Furthermore, the confidence and poise that come with public speaking also have a positive impact on interpersonal relations.
Speaker Spotlight: As an ISBA speaker, what have you learned through face-to-face interaction with diverse audiences?
Amin: It has always been my belief that the general American public is fair-minded, hospitable, and warm and--sure enough-- through my contact with audiences within the ISBA context, I've had the opportunity to meet just those people.

Dear ISBA Supporters,
Every
year the Islamic Speakers Bureau of Atlanta (ISBA) delivers hundreds of
presentations designed to educate the public about Islam and Muslims.
Our
volunteer speakers, who represent various professional, ethnic and
linguistic backgrounds, receive extensive training and are mentored by
fellow speakers. This month's newsletter provides a snapshot of
the wonderful work our volunteer speakers have done during the past
month.
We
thank you for your continued support, encouragement and contributions.
As always, please let us know if you have any suggestions on how we can
further our efforts. With the increased demand
for our services, we are always looking for good speakers who can work
with us using our proven method of presenting. If you know of someone who would like to work with us, please contact us at dirisbatl@yahoo.com.
Thank you,
