I thought our subscribers would be interested in this press release issued by AAMI on March 12th, which reports FDA's intent to recognize IEC 60601 3rd Edition and all particular and collateral standards.  The press release indicates that FDA "hopes to publish notice of the recognition in the Federal Register by June."  Once it is published, the normal transition timeline is approximately three years.
