Meaningful Use of Health Information Technology
FR: Beki Marshall Manager, Health Information Technology Education & Implementation,
RE: Meaningful Use Comments Requested
In late December, the first documents were released outlining the definition of Meaningful Use of health information technology as it applies to the financial incentives that were made available through the 2009 economic stimulus package. Given the potential impact of these rules on AAP members in all specialities and practice settings, the Academy has developed 2 online surveys and urges you to provide input! The Academy's Department of Practice will use these responses to formulate an official AAP response to CMS. Please submit all responses by Monday, February 22, 2010.
To provide input on EHR system requirements, go to: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CXSSMTC
To provide input on the EHR Incentive Program, go to: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/CXHTCZL
Please note: Each survey is expected to take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. We recognize that this is a significant amount of time; however, we hope you will see the importance and share your thoughts.
Thank you,
Beki Marshall Manager, Health Information Technology Education and Implementation

MCAAP Medical Home White Paper
This past fall, Dr. Greg Hagan convened a Medical Home working group of MCAAP members to discuss the implementation of the Medical Home model in pediatric practice. With input from the MCAAP Board and several experts from the Chapter, this group has written a white paper that addressesthe unique needs of children, families and pediatric practitioners as the Medical Home concept is rolled out.
It appears that the Medical Home model will play an integral role in health care reform, both nationally and in the Commonwealth. As always, we must continue our work to ensure that the unique needs of children and families are not left out as the health reform debate moves forward. We hope that this paper will serve as a useful tool for Chapter members, especially in discussions with payors and policy makers.
To access the paper, please visit the home page of the MCAAP web site at www.mcaap.org. Please contact Cathleen Haggerty at chaggerty@mcaap.org if you have any questions/comments about this paper.
