Multiple Personalities...

Do you need more than one Social Media account profile?

A dear friend of mine, Juliet Foster, is both a (fabulous!) photographer and a photography teacher. She is grappling with creating her online marketing plan and asked me how to deal with the two different areas of interest, especially on social media sites where she was considering creating accounts. My short answer was that she should set up and maintain two different accounts - one for each focus.

There numerous reasons why, but the key is that they have different 'ideal clients'.  As a photographer, she specializes in head shots for professional women. As a photography teacher, she is looking for amateur photographers, male or female, of all ages. And since the goal is to be where your ideal clients are and to provide them with content that they will find valuable, she really needs to create two different profiles.

Will your readers even see your images?

LisaMarie Dias

Depending on the email client that your reader uses, they may or may not see the images you place in your e-newsletter.

Some may have all images blocked and even more will need to 'enable' the images to see them.  For this reason, I always suggest that you make sure that your company name is visible IN TEXT, not just as a logo - in case they cannot see your images.

And here is an excellent post by Michael Thom from the "Exact Target" blog about which email clients do and don't display images.

About blogs

People often ask me if anyone (except maybe the blogger's Mom) actually reads blogs.

Here are some interesting stats as posted by @emarketer  on Twitter http://bit.ly/cnSfBU

How to change that horrendous orange link color in your Constant Contact Welcome Letter

For those of you that use Constant Contact, you know that when someone signs up for your e-news using your signup box or link, they are automatically sent a WELCOME LETTER.  This letter, for some reason that I cannot possibly imagine, includes bright orange link text in the template.

Ugly Orange Links!

And unless orange is a signature color for your business, it is really quite unprofessional in appearance.  Below you will find the steps to identify and change the color of those links.

This is a bit more advanced than most of my tips but if you can follow along,  it is REALLY helpful!  And if touching the template code is beyond your abilities (or bravery), just give me a call (973.275.9497), I can fix it for you in about 15 minutes!

Click on your "Contacts" tab - then - "Join my Mailing List" - then - "Welcome Email"

Once in the email, click on "Advanced Editor" (on left) and choose "Style" - this will open the code for the letter template.

Look for "signature link" - it will be set for #ff6600 (I think that this color choice must have been someone's idea of a joke!)  Go in and change it to #000000 (which will make it black) or any other color that will work with your template and branding.

Click SAVE and FINISH and that's it!

Now go in and do the same for your "Update Profile" letter as well.  For some reason the "Change of Interest" letter already has black links (who knows why?!) And NOW you have a professional looking letters without those horrendous orange links!
