Hints and Tips
About Images

Images are a great way to enhance your e-newsletters. They catch your eye, can add information (a picture is worth a thousand words!) and provide a break from text. If inserted correctly, they can even direct traffic to your website! Here are three things to keep in mind when adding images to your e-newsletter.

Tip of the Month
About Images

If you are strapped for space in your image library (you are only allowed 5 images at a time with a basic Constant Contact account) or are worried that the number of images you have may slow down the time it takes to open your email, you can GANG a group of images together and save them as a single image.

In a graphic editing program such as photoshop, take two to three images (up to five if they are small) and crop them all to the same height.  Cropping them to the same width will help unify the the overall look but is not as necessary.  Place them next to one another and save as a single image.  Now you can upload that single image and see all three!

To get a polished and professional look, use the tutorial that Helen created to make a photo frame for three 3" x 3" images.  As you can see in the example below, this really showcases your images while optimizing your image library slots!

About Images

As you insert an image in Constant Contact and most other ESP's (Email Service Providers), you will have the option of adding a notation to "FLOAT".
  • "Float Left" means that the image will appear to the left of the text - see Helen's photo below for an example of this.
  • "Float Right" will make the image appear to the right of the text
  • "Remove Float" will make the text appear below the image as seen with my photo above and with the image frame below.
Not exactly rocket science but useful to know!

Creating an Image frame
by Helen Bradley

triframe 3 x 3

Recently, LisaMarie asked me to create a tutorial to show you how to create a template with a 3 pixel frame around it and openings for three 2"x 2" or 3"x 3" images.

The process of designing a solution is a little complex so I've done two things. First of all, I'm giving you the templates as PSD files that you can use them to create your own design, but secondly I'm going to show you how to do it yourself. So, if you want to know how to create a reusable design like the one shown above or one that can be used with different size photos, click HERE for step by step instructions.
