My dear friend Nermin shared a special story with me this past month that I would like to pass along to all of you.
Nermin, a Turkish friend that just celebrated her 87th birthday, is a fascinating lady. She leads a full and amazing life and I feel fortunate to spend time with her when she comes to visit her family here in the US. This visit, she related a story from her first visit to the US when, as a young woman, she traveled here as a Fullbright Scholar (I told you she has an interesting life!) As she sat down with the professor she was meeting with, he took off his watch, placed it face down on the table and said "My time is yours". She was so taken by the gesture - even many years later, she remembered it. I too was touched by the simple yet profound statement. She commented to me on the difference between the way the Eastern and Western worlds perceive and experience time. We spoke about how busy we all are, how time is truly so precious and how rarely we give one another our undivided attention.
Our conversation made me think about how often I am 'multitasking' - doing many things at once, and how infrequently I focus on just one thing, or more importantly, one person. And how truly precious the gift of time really is! I think this is a great reminder, especially at this time of year when the number of tasks, deadlines, social obligations and events threaten to distract and overwhelm us.
While I wish I could say that I have time for sale (now THAT would sell like hotcakes!) what I can offer, is to help you save time! I can help you take care of your Holiday shopping in the convenience of your own home. We can set up a time, at your convenience, when I can bring a selection of jewelry to you. We can find gifts for friends, family, teachers coaches and/ or tutors or find a piece of jewelry that will give new life to a holiday outfit you already own, hopefully saving you yet another shopping trip. It can be relaxed and enjoyable, saving you travel and parking - leaving you more time to spend as you choose!
Value and respect your time. Spend and share it wisely. It is truly our most precious gift!
Thank you for spending this time with me. Enjoy! |
While I do love making one-of-a-kind pieces, every once in a while there is a piece that many of you ask for, long after the original is gone.
The Amber glass briolette pieces, the ones featured on my business cards, are the single most requested pieces. Back by popular demand, I have a limited number available again this season! If you are interested in seeing one, please stop by an upcoming show or call or email to set up an appointment.
The gorgeous turquoise and cream colored polymer and stone pieces are the second most requested items. Featured here at the head of the newsletter, I have a Fabulous necklace and earring set available again as well!
And the piece shown above is a great example of a stone you guys have loved, Crazy Lace Agate, but in a new and very different cut! These are, of course, in addition to all of the other new semi-precious stone sets, the beautiful lampwork bead and link pieces (see the gorgeous new amethyst color below), the stamp and photo pendants, the chains and lots and lots of earrings!
I am sure that we can find something for anyone on your gift giving list (well, the ladies anyway!) and that you will certainly be able to find something beautiful for yourself to wear for the upcoming Holiday events or as a special gift!
Hope to see you soon! |

A Call for Models!
We will be bringing the 'GoTo' to YOU!
We have been having a really great time working with you guys at the GoTo Necklace events. It has been a lot of fun and many of you have written to say that you have left with many new and helpful tips!
In an effort to share this information with more of you, we have decided that we will include a brief 'GoTo' lesson here, each month! The column will focus on different facial 'types', providing suggestions for basic shapes, lengths and styles that work best for that structure. While it really can't compare with a one-on-one consult with Kerry, we think that it will be a fun way to help more of you learn how to use jewelry to compliment your facial shape and style.
To do this, we will need some models! We will focus on 'Round' faces first. If you would like to assist, we will pick one of you to be our model of the month! Kerry will work with you, one-on-one, to find the pieces that work best for your facial structure. Then we will take a photo of you in one of those pieces to include in our column! No 'before' shots, no other customers, no obligation - just a fun way to learn and to spread the word!
So, if you would like to volunteer your 'facial structure' please send us an image, either a .jpeg via email at GoTo@LisaMarieDiasDesigns.com or a headshot via fax at 973.275.9497. As I said, we will work with a 'Round' face first but will also accept contributions of 'Square', 'Oval' and 'Heart-shaped' for future columns. We will pick the volunteers that best exemplify each shape and notify those chosen by Thanksgiving weekend. Please make sure to include an email address or phone number so we will be able to reach you! If you are picked, the one-on-one session will be held during my Holiday Home Show, here in South Orange, on Saturday, December 1st, at a time to be mutually agreed upon.
Thank you in advance for your interest, I am sure that this will be a lot of fun and that a great time will be had by all! |

Can you believe I have already created over TWENTY FIVE different lampwork and link designs?!?! And that does not include the new ones introduced this month - like the gorgeous amethyst and cream piece shown here. You may not have even seen them all as many of them are selling out the first day that they are out at a show!
In order to give you as large a selection as I can, I have started a 'catalogue' of images of these pieces. Filled with colorful cuts of each color combination offered, it is an easy way to see them all, even if I don't have a sample on the table that day!
I will have the catalogue and order forms available at all the upcoming shows. If you get a minute, please take a look. And since I have started naming the color combinations - there must be at least five gorgeous versions of black, cream and ochre - I would love your feedback. This is my first shot at naming the designs and I am certainly open to suggestions!
Please do keep these fabulous pieces in mind as special Holiday gifts - and for hints to those looking for gifts for you!

Holiday Dress Up Time
by Kerry Cordero
Now that it's finally getting cold, I'm starting to think of what to wear for holiday parties. I love to put one really exciting item into my outfit to give it some glam or make it look different. And with Thanksgiving right around the corner, I thought I'd share a few ideas:
*
A quirky hat that highlights the color of my eyes so that when I arrive I feel warm and cool, all at once.
*
A new lipstick, with liner and gloss, so that it stays on all night.A funky wedge heeled shoe in a bright color that dresses up my jeans and makes them "party-worthy."
A belted sweater that drapes gracefully. I want one that doesn't need adjustment so I can be comfortable and effortless all night.
A wide, jeweled necklace right at my neckline that's just a bit ahead of the fashion curve and makes everyone ask.
If you want to find out where I'm shopping for these, drop me an email at thefirstlook@verizon.net . I've got a few favorite spots around town that I'll share with you in the spirit of the season! And I bet you can guess where I'm getting my jewelry!

Free Gifts at my Holiday Home Show!
One problem that many of you mention, is that one, or both, of the holes in your ears are too long or in some way pulled. Caused by phone use, an accident or just many years of wearing heavy earrings, this is a common complaint.
We can address this in a couple of ways. One option is to pick a lighter earring; we have lots of styles, even over- sized pieces, designed with this in mind. Or you can try our post tops or even the larger clip-on pieces.
But now I have another option to offer! I recently came across a product advertised as an adhesive "ear lift". These small, clear fabric ovals stick to the rear of your earlobe. You stick the earring post through the web of the fabric which theoretically supports the earring, independent of the size of your pierced hole.
If you are interested in trying them, I have purchased a pack and will offer them as a gift with any earring purchases made at MY HOLIDAY HOME SHOW!
This is not a paid (or even un-paid!)promotion and I am not in any way endorsing the product - I just thought that it would be a great way to try them.
I can't solve all your beauty related complaints but maybe we can knock this one off the list! |

More Earrings!

And speaking of earrings.....
When in doubt, earrings are always a great gift item! They work well for everyone from girlfriends to teachers, from sisters to nieces and just about everyone in between!
As you know, earrings (being round!) are very difficult to photograph so I never have that many on the website but I always have a large selection for appointments and at the shows.
For the holidays, I have made a special effort to make more of the most popular Bali sterling styles and I have even photographed a few of the 'flatter' glass pairs for the website!
Please surf by the website
www.LisaMarieDiasDesigns.com to see some of the new pieces or come by an upcoming show - I am sure that we will be able to find a pair for just about anyone on your list!
