State hires firm to run video poker monitoring

State gambling regulators have hired a company to run the computer system to monitor video poker betting at bars, restaurants and truck stops. Scientific Games received a six-year contract with the state for monitoring.

The agreement means that thousands of video gambling machines could go live by the end of the year, and possibly as soon as this fall.
Open Meetings training

A new State law requires elected or appointed officials to participate in electronic training on the Open Meetings Act. The training is required only once during the term of office or position, unless you are the Open Meetings Act Designee.

If you are already serving as an elected or appointed officials, you must complete the training by January 1, 2013. Once the electronic training curriculum is completed, you must file a copy of the certificate of completion with the public body.

Go to the Attorney General's office website at http:/foia.ilattorneygeneral.net/electronic_foia_training.aspx to complete the training.
Critical Municipal Facilities survey

ComEd is collecting data from municipalities on their critical municipal facilities. This list will be used to identify critical facilities that may be impacted by an electric service interruption during a severe storm.

Please email the information to Diane Emerson at diane.emerson@ComEd.com by January 28. Click here for the Critical Facilities template.

Please share this LCMLetter with staff. It is our aim to keep elected officials and their village staff informed about the issues facing municipalities.

Sincerely,
Christine Gentes
