LCML Lobby Day in Springfield, April 13
Important issues to be discussed
The Lake County Municipal League's 2011 Springfield Legislative Day is scheduled for Wednesday, April 13. This year there are many important issues to be discussed: - Municipal Revenue Shares

- Catastrophic Injury definition
- Workers Compensation
A Legislative Briefing at the Illinois Municipal League's office (500 E. Capitol Avenue) will begin at 10:00 am. After the Briefing, LCML members will spend the afternoon visiting the Lake County delegation and lobbying for various bills. A lunch will be organized. In the evening, a Legislative Reception will be held at 6:00 pm at IML office. For those staying overnight, another series of appointments with legislators can be arranged on Thursday, April 14. Please contact Chris Gentes if you are interested in attending so we can make appointments with our legislators. Hotel arrangements are at your own expense. Several members will be driving to Springfield together on April 13 early in the morning. If you would like to be part of the carpool, please email Chris Gentes at lcml@sbcglobal.net. |

Lake County Transportation Projects
Lake County Challenge Bond Improvements
On Tuesday, March 15, the Lake County Board authorized the issuance of $90 million in bond financing to advance several "Big Results" highway projects from concept to construction quickly. These projects will provide overall improvements to our transportation system, as well get traffic moving at several heavily-congested locations:
- Rollins Road at IL Rte 83
- Fairfield Road at IL Rte 176
- Fairfield Rd at IL Rte 134
- Washington Street from Lake Street to Hainesville Rd.

Water Quality Grants
llinois American Water 2011 Environmental Grant Program Application due: March 25, 2011
Illinois American Water (IAW), a private water supplier serving parts of the greater Chicago area, has announced that it is accepting applications for its 2011 Environmental Grant Program to improve and protect local watersheds. Created in 2005, IAW's grant program awards grantees up to $10,000 for "innovative, community- based environmental projects that improve, restore or protect the watersheds, surface water and/or groundwater supplies in our local communities."
Watershed cleanups, reforestation efforts, biodiversity projects, streamside buffer restoration projects and hazardous waste collection efforts are all cited as examples of eligible activities. To be eligible, the project must be a community initiative and be located within the Illinois American Water service area. Space is limited, so reserve your spot for a webinar demonstrating the new MetroPulse web data system. From 10:00 to 11:00 am. on Friday, March 25, CMAP will train users on all aspects of the website, including advanced functions.
Launched last November, MetroPulse was developed as part of the Regional Indicators Project, a collaboration of CMAP and The Chicago Community Trust. Its advanced data tools facilitate local decision making and help us track the region's progress in implementing GO TO 2040.
