Legislative Update
The House and Senate plan to return to Springfield on May 25. Governor Quinn and the Democrat leaders are meeting with individual lawmakers and small groups of legislators to lock down the final votes for the budget. As for the terms of the budget, Senate Democrats are insisting that any additional budget measure must first pass the House and include a cigarette tax. They do not want to pass legislation again only to see it fail in the House. Veto Session has been scheduled for November 16, 17, 18, 30 and December 1 and 2. |
