Adam KUEHL

AdamKuehl_MajesticOakKuehl is recognized as one of the "25 Under 25 Up-And-Coming American Photographers" by the Center for Documentary Studies at Duke University. You may have seen his work while flipping through publications like PND, Vogue, the New York Times Style Magazine, or Metropolitan Home, among many others.

Having grown up in the Chicago area, Adam has always been drawn to the urban landscape. Photography became a natural vehicle for him to explore the city streets. The thrill of the hunt, the tranquility of the night, and the stories behind the images are what inspire him to shoot.

Although Adam photographs a variety of subjects, his work is often rooted in his love for the landscape. After graduating from Savannah College of Art & Design in 2005, he began a series of photographs that depict a side of Savannah many people often overlook. With a camera lens and a sharp eye he captures scenes that portray the sleepy side of this historical city.  Although Adam has moved away from Savannah, he comes home often and has recently brought into the gallery several newly framed images that have been exhibited around the country and showcased in 25 Under 25 Up-And-coming American Photographers, Volume II as well as Magenta Foundation's Flash Forward 2009: Emerging Photographers.  These images are included in his newly published book Savannah Nights.

Linda STOKES

We are so proud that one of our long time Georgia resident artists, Linda Stokes, has been recognized in two National Shows for her exquisite series of photographs. Stokes is widely known for her vibrant and lush oil paintings of foliage and woodlands, especially southeastern woodlands.  For many years, she has been photographing the wooded areas near her home primarily to use as reference material while painting.  More recently she began taking her photography seriously after she was stunned by some of the new images she discovered while exploring the creeks and ponds around her estate.  She developed a new series based on color and light playing on the water's surface.  This  sublime series delves into the realm of abstracted color works with simple connections to realism.  The works are beguiling and almost hypnotic which might explain why two of her new pieces were accepted into national shows.  We are honored to carry not only these two images but also numerous framed and unframed pieces from this new collection.
