Jan Clayton Pagratis
Featured Artist on New Encaustic Website

Jan Seventeen times
Chroma's own, Jan Clayton Pagratis was chosen to be the first artist highlighted on the new website:Encausticpaints.com  The site contains images of her work as well as a personal interview with the artist. When asked what she wants people to walk away with after viewing one of her works, Pagratis states, "My work is a celebration of color and abstracted images that portray my daily musings in the studio. I want people to see beyond the medium and envision the environment in which they were created. I hope they are able to understand a little about life in the coastal southeast with its historic spaces, daily concerns, and future expectations."
Check out the new website and take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about encaustic painting which is one of the world's oldest art forms.

Ikeda Lowe has been exhibiting with Chroma Gallery for several years now and quietly gaining a strong following for her pearlescent watercolors with richly abstracted imagery. She seems to have a knack for capturing the feeling of larger-than-life images and emanating those feelings into tiny spaces that can move the viewer into a place of joy.  Perhaps the joy that she feels in her everday life (she has a beautiful family with four small children) somehow spills over into her work. So, it comes as no surprise that Lowe's most recent work (collage works filled with intricate pieces of Japanese papers and threads) would be as successfully received. Savannah Magazine recently choose to feature Ikeda Lowe and her work in their most recent Home Edition which is currently available on the news stands. We hope you will have the time during this busy season to read the article and that it inspires you as it did us.
