Chroma Gallery artist, Jan Clayton Pagratis will be one of a unique group of artists exhibiting at the City of Savannah, Department of Cultural Affairs' gallery S.P.A.C.E. Gallery. The exhibition titled REINCARNATED, is dedicated to raising awareness of recycling in Savannah. The artists included in this show choose to use found or recycled
materials in a conscious creative effort to reduce waste. The opening reception will be at S.P.A.C.E. Gallery, 9 West Henry Street,
on May 2nd from 6:00 - 8:00pm. Clayton will be showing examples from her

NEW WORK by JESSE PAYNE
|
|
JESSE PAYNE received an MFA with an emphasis in painting and ceramics from Northern Illinois University. He is currently a Professor of Foundation Studies at the Savannah College of Art & Design. His work has been exhibited in both national and international shows. Last spring one of Payne's self portraits was featured in the March issue of American Artist Magazine (Drawing edition) and more recently he was chosen for a private apprenticeship with Odd Nerdrum. Nerdrum is a Norwegian artist of International renown known for his large-scale allegorical paintings completed in the 'old master style'. Payne will be completing his apprenticeship with Nerdrum this fall. We are pleased to have Jesse Payne join us at Chroma and excited to offer his highly textured encaustic paintings and ceramics. Jesse says of these pieces, "I am not
interested in producing images on the surface of the canvas. I am interested in
the surface itself and how materials manifest meaning and mystery into the
work. My true subject matter is the
paint itself." Welcome Jesse.
