A Week in Washington - Jay Harrison's perspective
My wife and I traveled by
train from north Florida to Washington - A fourteen-hour, overnight
trip. We arrived in Union Station at 8am on Monday the 20th
of April, to cold an soggy District of Columbia. Washington DC is a
contradiction of magnificent triumph and freedom, and yet, at the same
time one can get a tangible sense of oppressive tyranny from the great
stone buildings and bureaucratic empire churning away spending the
American taxpayer's money as fast as they can commandeer it.
The major highlight of this trip was meeting the amazing group of
diversely inte resting and talented people that came together in support
of the Daniel Chapter One ministry. With a common goal of exposing
truth and defending the health freedoms of all Americans, this small
intrepid group of freedom fighters faced down the Federal Trade
Commission.
After walking through a metal
detector, we would be manually searched again, front and back, by
another officer with a hand held detector wand. Then we were instructed
to proceed to their main security desk. There we were stripped of all
our laptops, cellphones, cameras, audio equipment, and any other
electronic gear which might help us in our case; summarily issued a
visitor sticker and escorted directly to the fifth
floor FTC court
room. Our escorts were not only the standard armed FTC security guards,
but also a half dozen or more Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)
Police officers, from the Department of Homeland Security, in full
black turnout gear and bullet proof vests. If intimidation was their
goal, they were certainly putting on a show of force.
Once arriving at the threshold of the court room, we would be searched
a third time, front and back, with more metal detector wands, and
questioned/warned about having any electronic devices in their
Federal Sanctuary. Even though this hearing was "open to the public"
there would be absolutely no cameras, audio, or video recording to be
done - well, that is, except for theirs. After final inspection and
approval, we were permitted to pass through both sets of giant
leather-bound double doors into the Federal Trade Commission Court
Room. Here we
stood - in an FTC building, before an FTC judge,
prosecuted by a panel of FTC lawyers, and no jury. I had little hope of
a fair hearing for Daniel Chapter One. All of this seemed only
as a
necessary formality - a ritual to be preformed as a public display -
before the FTC could "officially" declare their self-imposed dominance
over the sovereign religious ministry that is Daniel Chapter One.
For all the unlimited resources that the Federal Government has, they
really put up a lack-luster fight. Despite an incredible and
disproportionate array of technology at their disposal, including
real-time transcripts of the hearing (similar to closed captioning),
and PowerPoint style projections, their case still fell flat. Some
might say they didn't do the effort, because they knew the judge was on
their team. But I disagree - to their credit, I think they tried very
hard, they just didn't have a case. At the end of the day, and to no
one's surprise, the FTC judge found in favor of the FTC.
The witnesses for Daniel Chapter One traveled from points across
America to stand with us and tell their story of how Daniel Chapter One
has touched their bodies, hearts, and lives. These good people put
their lives on hold, to come tell of what God has do ne with them
through Daniel Chapter One. However most did not even get a chance to
tell that story....
Thank you,
