No More Water Woes!
Water woes plague even the greenest thumbs. Knowing when and how much to water plants is often the biggest obstacle faced by home gardeners. The symptoms of over and under-watering (yellow or brown leaves, wilted leaves or stems) are very similar and both conditions can kill a plant quickly. Use these tips to cure your garden's water woes:
Container Plants Plants in containers dry out more quickly than those in the ground. The smaller the container the faster it will dry out. We recommend Baccto Lite potting soil, a peat moss mix, which retains moisture well.
Soil Moist A small garden miracle for hard-to-remember or hard-to-reach planters. Added to soil, these tiny crystals absorb excess water and release it slowly into the soil, allowing you to water less often. Moisture Meter Arm yourself with one of these and battle the toughest watering situations. Moisture meters take the guess work out of knowing when and if you should water your plants. Mulch or Moss Add a layer of mulch or moss to cover the soil in containers or flowerbeds and help keep plant roots cool and retain soil moisture. |
