I have noticed over the last week that the days are getting longer. After all, it's officially February. Soon the days will be warm and the plants will be green again. New life amazes me again every year.

As I wrote in my last e-mail I attending a Brian Tracy teleseminar and I have put some of the ideas I shared with you into use. One of the things I want to improve this year is my ability as a musician. Some of you know that I am a singer, but I have always wanted to play piano. I have been sitting in on my daughter's lessons and practicing haphazardly at best. Needless to say, I have not come very far.

I long to be competent playing piano. But you could ask what level of competence. There are actually three levels of competence. The first in unconscious incompetence. That's where you don't know anything about a subject and don't really know how incompetent you are. The next level is conscious competence, which is how I play the piano. I have to think about the notes, where my hands go and what key I'm in. Yes, I can play, but it's more work than enjoyment. The level of playing I desire to get to is unconscious competence, where I look at the notes and the key signature and I can play. Like driving a car, I will not longer have to think about everything having to do with playing piano. What will it take to get to that level? Practice and commitment on my part.

What do you want to accomplish? If it is something you have never tried before, remember you fit into the unconsciously incompetent level, but only temporarily. Just keep practicing at whatever it is you want to accomplish and you can achieve it.

Summary of "Understanding the New Children" - with Jennifer Crews.
 Authentic individuals

Have you ever thought that your child was very different than you were at the same age? I have, many times! Jennifer Crews offered insight into today's children to help us as adults relate to them better. Whether you call the Indigo Children, Crystal Children or have given them some other label, they are amazing! The New Children engage in their world energetically first, then physically. They arrived in the world able to absorb learning easily. Since they are fast learners, they become bored before we finish explaining. Does that sound familiar?

Jennifer suggested that a child's behavior is a form of communication and a way of telling us about that something is wrong with a "system", such as:
  • Immune system - it's either strong or weak
  • Digestive system - is there a type of food that may be causing problems?
  • Regulatory (nervous) system - what primary element will help calm them - water, rock, wood?
  • Relational system - how do they see people, what is an individual's energy telling them?
  • Self-expression - how do they express themselves, is it though writing, dance or art?
  • Nature connection - are they "nature deficient", would some outside time help?
  • Connection with the "energy grid" - do they need to connect more with the energy in the world?

If your child is struggling, try to discover which system is upset and then work with your child to fix it. For more information, you can check Jennifer's website at www.IntuitiveTeachings.com or call her at 303.870.9779
