The weather the past week has been unbelievable. I love this time of year; the color is so beautiful. Unfortunately, I have been watching the weather from inside. I have a nasty virus that I am trying to keep to myself. So I have cancelled my office open house for tomorrow. I am better, but it is taking time to shake this.

My 6th grade daughter has caused me to think about perfection lately. Some days she is very concerned about her hair being just perfect. Society tells us we can be perfect; have the perfect marriage, perfect body, perfect home. However, perfection is an unattainable goal, and unnecessary for most of us. Unfortunately, we are only human. We get tired, we forget, we get distracted. We have misunderstandings and sometimes we make mistakes. We waste precious time and energy striving for the impossible. Most of the time we are far more successful if we strive for excellence rather than perfection.

Instead of striving for perfection, let's strive for excellence. We want great results in anything with do, but life rarely requires no mistakes. Mistakes are merely the price of experimentation, learning and growth. Never fear making a mistake; fear failing to learn and move forward. In most activities our goal should be doing our best for the given situation. Anything less is sloppy or careless and that is never acceptable. So be kind to yourself. Strive for excellence, not perfection.

October 18 - "Simply Beautiful" - with Ingrid Elfver.
 The Art of Self Acceptance

Beauty is born within. You have to cultivate it...make it grow from the inside out. Simply Beautiful will teach you to be proud of who you are, what you are and what you stand for. It is for every person at every stage of life. Everyone should learn how to be more beautiful, day after day. We can't all look alike, but all of us are equally special and unique. By the end of the talk you will know, too, that you are Simply Beautiful...just the way you are.

Ingrid Elfver is an author, artist and teacher. Originally from Sweden, Ingrid began her inspirational ministry after a life-transforming awakening. She helps others discover their unique and powerful Authentic Self.

In her presentation, "What's the Story Behind the Photograph?" Lissa Ann Forbes will discuss how each face is a photograph and share some of her own stories. She will take you on a journey about how photographs bring history to life and how learning the story behind the photograph can be a fascinating adventure. She will engage you with interactive exercises to learn how to capture the stories behind the pictures, the stories behind the faces of those you know.

Lissa Ann Forbes, of Elemental Press, is the author of "Write from the Inside: Dig for your Treasures, Discover Yourself, Leave a Legacy". She has been journaling for 30 years, creating softcover, handbound life story books for seven years and is passionate about documenting personal history.  November 15 - "Are You Leading a Slimtastic Life?" with Keri Silk
 Find the Skinny in You

Like Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ, you've had the power all along. You just didn't believe it. In this interactive workshop we'll touch on the five core strategies; Vision, Nutrition, Movement, Community and Spirit. You'll discover some new techniques for making weight loss fun and almost effortless. So be ready to click your heels together and say "I am skinny, happy and healthy"!

"Wow! You look great!" Today this is a common compliment for Keri Silk, Founder and President of Slimtastic and the International Association of Weight Loss Coaches (IAWLC). But in 2005 she was tipping the scales at over 250 pounds and squeezing into a size 22. Keri realized she needed something new, not the same old diet and patterns. She discovered new ideas and new ways of thinking. She put these together with what she already knew about herself and Slimtastic was created. Slimtastic is a new program that looks at five core elements in a person's life. Today, Keri is an energetic size 12. She shares her approach with individual clients and speaks to groups about weight loss. Keri is still loosing weight and the compliments continue to pour in.
