I hope you have been enjoying this long holiday weekend. I have spent the last two days in my yard; planting, digging and removing that which no longer serves. Memorial Day, for me, is a time to remember those I cherish the most; family, dear friends, and to be thankful for the many blessings I have in my life. But how often we don't see and make use of that which is right in front of us.

The Amazon River delta is 90 miles across! The water flow from the Amazon is so great that it creates currents 250 miles out into the Atlantic Ocean. Hundreds of years ago, men traveled and explored by sailing ships. Sometimes the ships would get caught in the "doldrums", where there was no wind to full the sails and whole crews would die for lack of water. One such place was near the mouth of the Amazon River. A ship caught in the doldrums would signal a passing ship, asking for water. At times the response would be to lower buckets into the sea, because the water was fresh from the Amazon. But the sailors were afraid and did not see what was in front of them.

How like we! So many times, we are afraid of today, tomorrow and sometimes ourselves. Enjoy that which is in front of you today.

In my last newletter, I mentioned I was thinking about taking a break during the summer, and that is what I am doing. During June, we will have two Soul Food luncheons, one on the 14th and one on the 28th. After that, the next Soul Food will be after school starts. I will be spending time with family, getting my daughter ready for middle school (yikes!), and attending to the remaining details to launch my private practice. I will be sending out periodic newsletters to keep you informed about upcoming speakers. So be sure to check your e-mail!

Summary of "Awakening Compassionate Awareness Through the Practice of Projective Dreamwork" with Billie Ortiz
 Sweet Dreams

Is it just a dream? Not really. We are always looking outside ourselves for guidance, but as Billie explained, our dreams come to guide us every night. All dreams come in service of health and wholeness. There is no such thing as a bad dream, only a "dramatic" dream to get our attention. But only you, as the dreamer, can say what your dream is about; that "aha" feeling. Our dreams come to us in layers, not just with one meaning, and each layer is significant. No dream comes to tell you what you already know, but to break new ground and bring new understanding and insight. What do your dreams have to tell you?

If you would like more information about dreamwork, go to Billie's website at www.wakeuptoyourdreams.com or call her at 303.929.6122
