What a beautiful day today! It's hard to believe that it is going to end and instead of beautiful warm days we could be looking at another foot of snow! So be prepared and if you are just now hearing this from me, turn on the TV!

I want to say a few words about personal freedom and what it means. For many people, personal freedom is about doing or saying whatever they what, whenever they want. But there is a great paradox about personal freedom. The people who seem to have the most freedom also happen to be the most disciplined, the most focused and self- directed. They are disciplined in what they say, how they act, how they spend and how they structure the day's activities. Those who sleep late, run up credit cards and "mouth off" will be disciplined by others or pay the consequences in damaged relationships, reputation or health. An undisciplined life leads to confusion and pain. So, we either learn to structure our lives around worth-while goals and actions, or we pay a penalty. We either manage our lives on our own, or we lose the very freedom we cherish. Yes, there are times to sleep in, times to "mouth off", times to spend. But only sometimes and not taken to extreme. So discipline yourself. Act thoughtfully, speak thoughtfully or be prepared to accept the consequences.

Summary of "Psych-K - A New Paradigm for Change" with Elizabeth Powers.
 Transforming Your Beliefs

We were a small but mighty group at our last Soul Food luncheon as Elizabeth Powers taught us about Psych-K and gave us a demonstration. The subconscious mind hold 95% of our beliefs. The other 5% is in our conscious mind. Unfortunately the two don't communicate very well. When you make an intention or an affirmation, studies have shown that you must repeat that intention or affirmation three times each day for 2 CONSECUTIVE months. If you miss a day, you have to start all over. No wonder it's so hard to change! Psych-K creates a whole brain state that shift the programming in the brain and reduces that resistance to change. Don't believe you are programmed? What color is a yield sign? Now go look at a yield sign and see what color it is. Your belief system about that yield sign was formed when your learned how to drive and you brain is totally convinced. Many of our belief systems were formed when we were young. Some of us were told that we had to care for others, that we were not as smart as another sibling, that we couldn't do anything right. What belief systems are in your subconscious that are influencing you? If you feel one foot is on the accelerator and one foot is on the brake, Psych-K is for you! If you are interested in speaking with Elizabeth about Psych-K, you may reach her at 720.304.9824 or by e- mail at Elizabeth@GoingBeyondBelief.com.

If you missed Debra in November, be sure to attend this Soul Food luncheon.  May 17 - "Awakening Compassionate Awareness Through the Practice of Projective Dreamwork" with Billie Ortiz
 Sweet Dreams

Every night our dreams come to guide us toward our highest potential. So often, though, we forget our dreams or don't see the point in recording them. Join certified dreamworker, Billie Ortiz, and learn the basics of group projective dreamwork, discuss common dream symbols and hints on how to remember your dreams. Learn how recognizing that "all dreams come in the service of health and wholeness" and agreeing to phrase our comments as "If this were my dream," encourages deeper insight into the dream material and allows for all praticipants to enter the dream as though it were their dream as well. Once the dream becomes "everybody's dream" we begin to realize how we all share a universal bond in our collective unconscious through the language of metaphor and symbols and enter into a state of compassionate awareness of our common shared humanity. Bring your dream journal, dream art or just your curiosity and learn about the endlessly fascinating and infinitely rewarding world of dreams!

Billie Ortiz is a certified dreamworker who, since 1997, has helped scores of dreamers on the path to self-discovery through a better understanding of their dreams. She offers private sessions, groups, workshops and bi-annual weekend retreats featuring dream book author Jeremy Taylor.
