Where has the year gone? Thanksgiving is less than two weeks away and that means 2007 will be here soon. Are you starting to think about new goals?

Setting goals can be good. Some goals can be "big" and take a year or more to complete, while others are just ways to structure our days and prioritize our time, but always try to have clear goals.

At the same time goal-setting has a built-in flaw. Any time we set a goal, we are saying "some day things will be better." Goals sort of imply that things are not the way they "should be". The reality is that life is always perfect just as it is. It unfolds. It's lived. It happens, and we can either complain about it or find joy in every moment of this wonderful trip.

So stop preparing and start living! Don't spend so much time preparing and "getting ready" that you never do anything. Life is to be lived, and opportunities are to be grasped and pursued with passion. But goals are also the previews of life's coming attractions. Take time to write down clear and ambitious goals. Goals are good. Living is better.

One of my goals is to change my attitude and give you contact information about each speaker. That way, if you are not able to attend a luncheon but are interested in the speaker, you can easily contact her. I've been a little reluctant to do that, but the whole point of Soul Food is women helping women.

Soul Food will be taking a break over the holidays and will resume in January. Look for a new schedule coming out the end of December or beginning of January.

Wishing each one of you Grace and Peace this Holiday Season.

"Emotional Wisdom and the Four Personalities" with Debra Silverman.
 Why did I do that?

At our last Soul Food luncheon, Debra Silverman explained personality types as the four elements; water, air, earth and fire. I never looked at personality that way, but it was easy to identify myself and family members.

Water people are healers and compassionate. They tend to be quite, creative, psychic and a good judge of character. Water people are also very senstive in their bodies and will often talk about a " gut reaction".

Air personalities will keep your life very interesting. They love to talk and ask a lot of questions. They want the facts and only the facts as quickly as possible because they get bored easily. They are smart, have a great sense of humor but organization is not their "thing".

Earth people keep the world on track. They are productive, steady, practical, reliable and love to save money. But they are also very self-critical and are perfectionists.

And where would we be without the fire people? They are full of life and passion and are very loyal. They are honest and speak from the heart. Because they are impulsive the tend to start things and not finish them and are arguementative. They need to move the energy in their bodies and often don't know when they are tired.

Generally one or two personality types will dominate. The point is to understand and cultivate the others in yourself to provide more stength and balance.

If you would like more information, Debra has a wonderful 2-disc CD entitled Emotional Wisdom. You can contact Debra via e-mail at dsilver56@aol.com.
