Believer's Baptism: Basics
| |
Yes, I know I'm preaching to a bevy of baptists here, but it seems important to be reminded of these fundamental truths:
- Baptism is one of the basics of discipleship.
- Baptism is one of the two ordinances of the church.
- Baptisms are an important measure of church health.**
- Since baptism (by immersion) so vividly pictures the gospel -- Colossians 2:12-14, we need to be certain we are allowing people to experience and express their faith as God intended and commanded.
Thank you for valuing the basics,
David Yetter

** Speaking of church health, please download, complete, and submit the Annual State of the Church Assessment (ASCA) for your church ASAP. (Contact us if you want the form in a different format.) We will be having two drawings for Chipotle or Starbucks gift cards again. One in February, one in March! The earlier you turn in your ASCA, the more chances you have to win!

Regeneration Church of Oakland recently had an Affiliation Council with some of our CPW Leaders. The meeting resulted in the Council recommending Regen as a partner church! Please welcome Pastor Albert Lee and the church into our fellowship!

Pastor Benji and Heather Magness of Grace Baptist, Santa Maria, are celebrating the safe arrival of their daughter, Piper Evangeline Morisot Magness, January 24, 11:50 P.M.

Opening on Sunday, January 22! A BIG thank you to all who prayed and helped -- especially Natomas Life Ministries and Ignite Community Church. Continue praying for Pastor Tito and Day Day Dizon as they lead this new church plant!

Interested in traveling to Israel? Check out the trip that John and Debbie Merritt are leading in March 2012 or the trip led by Rick Moe and David Yetter in November 2012. |

If you'd like a request added to the Prayer Day list, please send it to Sandy by Monday, the 13th. Pastor Jän van Oosten of NewCov in Fresno received the good word from his doctor that the chemo treatments were effective! Praise and thank the Lord for this great news. Pray that CPW will Delight God by starting and strengthening churches that transform lives and communities here, near, and far away. Dan Owens, who served for many years on staff at Fair Oaks in Concord and now leads Eternity Minded, continues his aggressive chemotherapy treatments through Stanford Medical Hospital to combat cancer. Ask God to help any churches that are stymied and struggling to know how to find their way through the struggle to a season of spiritual fruitfulness We are thankful that three potential church planters, Edgar Hernandez, Vince Cuomo, and John Markum, all successfully completed a church planting assessment process. Pray for each of them as they explore God's plan and placement! CPW is looking for a good tenant in our Tracy office building. This is a significant income stream for our ministry. Ask the Lord to assist CPW Churches (listed below) who are looking to fill staff positions in their churches. Praise God for a tremendous Pastor's Retreat in Pismo and a well-received Women's Conference in Monterey. God answered many prayers and used solid leadership teams! Pray for the Haiti team from NewCov, Fresno, that will be serving First Baptist Church of Maissade, February 9-17.
