| Self-care is NOT Self-ish! | |
Do you have a hard time taking time off, leaving work undone, or not responding to each and every "crisis"? This is learned behavior that can be destructive to leaders and churches! Many church leaders believe..
- I must take care of everyone else. If I don't do it, no one will.
- I have to prove myself worthy of love by giving, giving, giving.
- Taking time for myself is unproductive and lazy.
- The more stressed, the more spiritual a person is.
These beliefs make about as much sense as putting a hammer to your head to heal a headache! But many are doing just that and expecting God's approval for it.
Let me suggest a few better principles to learn and live out:
- It is not up to me to satisfy the needs of everyone I come in contact with.
- Rest is necessary for a godly life.
- My body is God's temple and needs to be taken care of.
- Caring for myself appropriately is part of being a good role model.
Mark your calendar now for Friday, May 13, from 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at New Harvest Church in Clovis (see below). This might be the day you learn to set down the hammer and become more adept at "Juggling Ministry, Marriage, and Family"!!
Your partner in starting and strengthening churches -- God's way!

Help us help you by returning your assessment before our next drawing on March 21. If you have any questions, let David know!

The Inside Scoop
|
Four Haiti Teams had successful trips to Maissade in February while helping build a Vocational Training Center. Thanks to all who prayed, participated, and supported this good work!
In addition, CPW leaders met with Pastors Withny and Yoyo (picture to the left) to discuss extending our church starting and strengthening
ministries to support and expand the already active Haitian church planting activity in their region.
If you'd like to support this effort through CPW 3D, watch the video (click image to the right) and stop by the website to start the sign-up process!

Juggling Ministry, Marriage, and Family -- May 13, 2011
|
At times juggling the demands of ministry can seem overwhelming. Somehow church leaders must balance church life, home life, their own spiritual, emotional and physical condition, in addition to many other matters. No wonder many feel overloaded! It can simply be too much.
We're planning a 3-hour training for church leaders and spouses to help explore healthy patterns and perspectives for balancing life.
More details will be made available soon...
Save the date: Friday, May 13, 1:00 to 4:30 p.m. at New Harvest, Clovis. Also save the date for our 2011 Biennial Meeting/Celebration which follows the training time on Friday night and Saturday morning, May 13-14.

CONNECT through PRAYER: 2nd Tuesday CPW Prayer on March 8
|
Pray and fast with us on Tuesday, March 8th...
- Men's Retreat is the first weekend of March. Please ask God to work through: the fellowship times ("Band of Brothers" experiences!), the main sessions (Kenny Luck and Guy McIntyre, are our main presenters), the music (Willow Glen's Worship Team is leading in song), and the workshops.
 - CPW 3D is looking to deepen and expand our impact in 2011 to 5 continents.
- Pastor Filemon Tamboboy has received 11 treatments for his cancer at a treatment center in San Diego. He is awaiting results from the February 28 PET scan he received! Please pray for strength, hope, encouragement, and healing for Fil, Shirley, and their daughter Karen as they support each other and represent Jesus to those they meet. You're invited to email Fil with words of encouragement!
- The CPW Board of Overseers will be meeting on Thursday, March 10, to make important decisions regarding CPW's direction and budget for the next fiscal year (April 2011-March 2012). As most churches are faced with trying to do more and better ministry with less funding, we are doing the same.
- Pray for Roger and Edna Erickson, long-time partners with NCBC/CPW through Lakeside and Fair Oaks and through their direct involvement in boards, committees and teams. Edna has already received a series of chemo treatments and will learn soon what the next steps in her treatment will be.
Send specific prayer requests to Sandy by 10 a.m. Monday, March 7, to have them included on our Prayer Day list. Thanks to each one joining us in prayer.
