I haven't had time to look back much but I still really miss being a detective first and foremost. Then next, being a patrolman, but a far second to investigations. I guess that is why my favorite times now are when I get to teach the Police Judo courses. It's a cop-thing. And not all those Texas streets were so mean. Most were calm and beautiful. I meant to keep them that way. That's another cop-thing. And, a Texas thing.  

     Anyway, big thanks for all the help I've received. Here is one of the big secrets to seminar success. First comes the student, second comes the host and then I come in third place. The so-called "star" of the seminar circuit must come third because without the happy student, without the happy host, you are nothing. Strike that triple-balance.     

     Make it about the material, not you. Think seriously about this when you decide to travel and teach, or when you look at the short-term and long-term failures and successes of other seminar teachers and their systems. 

    12 years and steady global growth, all while others stutter-step, falter, stagnate, or disappear. Some even re-invent themselves to look more and more like us. We must be doing something right."
