Barney Frank`s Statement on Plans Not To Run For Re-election Frank's written statement follows: I will not be a candidate for reelection to the House of Representatives in 2012. I began to think about retirement last year, as we were completing passage of the financial reform bill. I have enjoyed-indeed been enormously honored-by the chance to represent others in Congress and the State Legislature, but there are other things I hope to do before my career ends. Specifically, I have for several years been thinking about writing, and while there are people who are able to combine serious writing with full-time jobs, my susceptibility to distraction when faced with a blank screen makes that impossible. |
15 Year-Old Lespreneur Makes A Difference By Making It Safe
I always stand in awe of anyone who creates an organization or company spurred by their passion for what they believe. It's even more inspiring when you see it being done by a 15 year old young lady. Amelia Roskin-Frazee, a young lesbian from San Francisco has taking the initiative to start "The Make It Safe" Project supporting LGBT youth. The organization's mission is to get LGBT books into the hands of our community's youth who might not have the opportunity otherwise.

HRC Applauds Introduction of Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act The Human Rights Campaign, recently hailed the introduction of the Domestic Partnership Benefits and Obligations Act (DPBO) in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The bill, sponsored by Reps. Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) in the House and Sens. Joe Lieberman (I-CT) and Susan Collins (R-ME) in the Senate, would provide benefits for same-sex domestic partners of federal civilian employees on the same basis as spousal benefits. These benefits would include participation in applicable retirement programs, life and health insurance benefits, and family and medical leave.
