| The Trevor Project Celebrates 13 Years Of Online Service
The Trevor Project marks 13 years of 24-hour daily lifeline service to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) youth in crisis. In celebration of "Trevor" turning 13, the minimum age of the young people served by The Trevor Project, the organization has launched a birthday wish campaign online to engage supporters in suicide prevention in the weeks leading up to National Suicide Prevention Week, (September 4-10, 2011). Supporters can participate by visiting http://bit.ly/trevorbday.

Predjudice Causes Health Risks For LGBT
New research shows that lesbians, gay men, and bisexuals (LGB) are at increased risk for physical health problems due to prejudice-related stress. On August 5, 2011, findings from the new report, Minority Stress and Physical Health Among Sexual Minorities, written by David M. Frost, Keren Lehavot, and Ilan H. Meyer, will be presented at the American Psychological Association's annual conference in Washington, DC.

HRC Releases State Toolkit for Hate Crimes Prevention Laws The Human Rights Campaign - the nation's largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization - today released a first of its kind guide for states looking to enforce and enact legislative solutions aimed at tackling hate crimes. The guide provides state-specific data on current hate crime laws in every state, identifies where hate crime laws could be stronger and offers feedback about improvements that could be made. It also offers a model hate crime law and steps that victims of hate crimes can take, as well as frequently asked questions on the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd, Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act (HCPA).
