| For First Time, Bureau of Labor Statistics Releases Data on Domestic Partner Benefits:
Recently, for the first time, the Bureau of Labor Statistics released data on employer-provided domestic partner benefits. The data are from the National Compensation Survey (NCS), which collected data on the employment benefit policies from more than 15,000 employers in the public and private sectors. The new questions added this year to the NCS will provide annual measures of employees' access to benefits for unmarried domestic partners.

Lesbian Judges and Elephants in the Room An event of note for the LGBT community took place yesterday in Florida. An event of note for those of us who advocate for equality and for freedom of sexual speech and expression took place at the same time. Friday was the investiture of Judge Victoria Brennan, an openly gay judge in a state that, prior to l978, had a policy in place that no gay person could be admitted to the Florida Bar as the Bar deemed homosexuality a moral shortcoming.
