The Integration of Social Media in LGBT Travel Websites
By Matt Skallerud
Upon hearing the recent news of Fab.com throwing in the towel on the LGBT market, it immediately got me thinking about what actually did seem to work with the Fab.com website. As one of the very first consumer websites, LGBT or otherwise, to integrate user-generated content in the form of social media, it truly was cutting edge in terms of what it had accomplished, what it showed can work and even more importantly, what it foretold about the future direction and success in consumer-oriented websites in general.

Logan Voxx Reignites the AIDS/HIV Conversation,
Especially Among Young People
By Gabe Serrato
It isn't every day a 22-year-old starts a non-profit organization. But Logan Voxx isn't like most 22 year olds. Born to a drug-addicted single mother in North Charleston, South Carolina, Voxx grew up in a neighborhood where poverty, criminal incarceration and homicide were a part of everyday life. He also grew up surrounded by HIV. "Seeing so many people, at 20 years old, become HIV-positive, especially in the gay community, especially in the African-American community- that was really hard for me," Voxx explains. "Most of my friends, even some family, are HIV positive."

It's loud. It's colorful. It's
crazy. And it's just around the corner
By Brian Stout
That's right-it's almost time again for Pride. The one time of year you probably take your professional hat completely off. But not so fast: Have you ever seriously considered Pride as an
appropriate time to engage your brand with LGBT consumers? If not, why not? It's perhaps one of the most ideal times to do so, since brands can efficiently reach masses of us at the peak of our happiness.
Yet despite the huge opportunity, many brands that should be on the guest list are no-shows year after year. And others that do show up for Pride often end up getting lost in the crowd. But don't get discouraged. I have some suggestions to help ensure that your brand leaves a lasting impression.

Be Advised or Beware
By David Rae
Just about everywhere you look these day- in books, magazines, cable and the blogosphere- you see strong suggestions that you should manage you investment portfolio on your own, without the involvement (or cost) of a Financial Professional. Remember, the media has no information about your situation, needs or even risk tolerance. I find it truly hard to believe that this is a good way for most people to even come close to reaching any of their financial goals. With my years and experience helping people reach their financial goals, something tells me that many investors will benefit from and realize substantially less stress and anxiety- working with a caring, competent and above all trusted Financial Planner. You could theoretically, make a lifetime financial and investment plan yourself, fund it with an appropriately diversified investment portfolio, monitor it, and gaily accumulate your way to wealth, avoiding all the pitfalls that will surely influence the success of your plan between now and retirement. Moreover, you can then still all on your own decide how to use those assets to provide you a lifetime of increasing income through your retirement- while keeping up with the ever-increasing cost of living. None of this is, strictly speaking impossible. The question to ask: Do you think it's Probable? Or even Do you think it will work for you?
