In
time for the holiday season, new guide gives consumers tool for buying
products from lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender friendly companies.
In time to kick-off of the holiday shopping season, the Human Rights
Campaign, the nation's largest gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender
(LGBT) civil rights organization, today released a guide to hundreds of
popular American brands rated on businesses' treatment of LGBT
employees. "Buying for Equality 2010" divides businesses and

Report: Estate Tax Burden Falls Disproportionately On Same-Sex Couples
New
Study by Williams Institute Finds that Exclusion from the Estate Tax
Marital Deduction Will Cost Affected Same-Sex Couples $3.3 million On
Average
As Congress turns to address the estate tax before it is repealed at
the end of the year, a new study announced today shows that same-sex
couples who are affected by the estate tax are assessed an average of
$3.3 million more in taxes upon the death of a spouse than
similarly-situated different-sexed married couples. Because the
federal government refuses to recognize same-sex marriages, lesbians
and gay men are disadvantaged in their ability to pass on their wealth
to their partners and children after their death.

What the closure of the Blade, Southern Voice means to LGBT media
By Mark Segal PGN Publisher
For those of us in LGBT media, it was a sad week. Our brothers and
sisters who work in a variety of LGBT newspapers run by Window Media
showed up at their offices Monday and discovered that their
publications had closed, including Washington Blade, Atlanta's Southern
Voice, David magazine, 411 magazine and South Florida Blade. That
alone is a lot of employees, but in recent months the same company also
closed down Genre magazine and the online-only Houston Voice, and it or
members of its management had connections with HX, which also folded.
To say this is the biggest failure in LGBT-media history is an
understatement. That said, what does it say about LGBT media? The short
answer: nothing.

during her physical examination. " The doctor thought I was one
thing, but I was another," says Mclean. "At first when I got there,
they asked the normal questions you would expect at a doctor's visit,
but when I lifted up my robe, their whole attitude changed."Read on....
