ActOnPrinciples.org Launches; Website provides revolutionary tools to grassroots
The
website is dedicated to putting The Dallas Principles into action by
empowering the grassroots of the LGBT movement to demand full equality.
Act On Principles will become only what its users make of it.
On the eve of President Obama's address to the gay community and the
National Equality March, a group of LGBT activists associated with The
Dallas Principles has announced a new web based activist hub that
dramatically distributes the power in the movement for equality for
lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. Among the tools it
provides the grassroots are: a blog for strategy, an online action hub,
and a public whip count for LGBT legislation in the US Congress. The
site also provides a widget that shows the current status of all
LGBT-related bills in Congress. Coding for the widget is provided for
posting on other websites.

endured its challenges as it tries to find a way to survive amidst the
growing wave towards online media. Conde Nast has most recently axed

House Passes Defense Authorization Conference Report, Including Hate Crimes Provision
Hate Crimes Protections Closer to President`s Desk than Ever, Senate to Take Last Remaining Step Soon
The Human Rights Campaign, praised the U.S. House of
Representatives today for passing the conference report for the FY 2010
Defense Authorization bill by a vote of 281 to 146, bringing critical
hate crimes protections closer to becoming law than ever before.
Earlier this week, the House voted down a last-ditch effort to
eliminate the hate crimes provision from the bill, through a procedural
effort called a motion to instruct conferees. The conference report
now proceeds to the Senate for its final vote in Congress. In July,
the Senate voted to attach the Matthew Shepard Hate Crimes Prevention
Act to the Defense Authorization measure and is expected to approve the
conference report as early as next week. President Obama has
repeatedly pledged to sign the bill when it reaches his desk. Read on....

HRC Welcomes Obama at National Dinner
"Tonight, President Obama told LGBT Americans that his commitment to
ending discrimination in the military, in the workplace and for loving
couples and their families is 'unwavering.' He made it crystal clear
that he is our strongest ally in this fight, that he understands and,
in fact, encourages our activism and our voice even when we're
impatient with the pace of change. But these remarks weren't just for
us, they were directed to all Americans who share his dream and ours of
a country where "no one is denied their basic rights, in which all of
us are free to live and love as we see fit."
