(GLAAD) today announced the launch of an
Advertising Media Program as part of its
national lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender (LGBT) media advocacy and
anti-defamation work. The program will
officially launch during a reception
for LGBT advertising professionals and
allies where
GLAAD will honor Levi's Brand and Wells Fargo
for their commitment to LGBT-inclusive
advertising. The reception will be held
Monday, May 18, 2009 at the Alvin Ailey Dance
Studio (405 West 55th St, New York, NY).

UCLA`S Williams Institute Releases New Study On The Fiscal Impact Of Same-Sex Marriage In Maine

The study finds that same-sex weddings and associated tourism will generate $60 million in spending over three years, providing a boom to the state economy
A new research study released today by the
Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law
shows that by allowing same-sex couples to
marry in Maine the state budget will
experience a boost of approximately $8
million per year. This net impact will
result from an increase in state income and
sales tax revenue as well as savings in
expenditures on state means-tested public
benefit programs.

homeless. Youth are particularly vulnerable.
Some estimate that between 40%-60% of
homeless youth are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or
transgender.

New online study shows GLBT travel shows more resilience
While Americans cope with new economic
realities, many by shifting consumer
priorities and curbing household expenses
across-the-board, a new national survey
conducted online by Witeck Combs
Communications and Harris InteractiveŽ shows
marked differences in travel expectations
over the next four months. On balance, for
all American adults sampled who also say they
plan to travel in the next four months - gay,
lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT)
consumers report on average they are likely
to spend about $2,300 between May and August
2009 for both leisure and business travel,
while heterosexuals on average they are
likely to spend about $1,500 during that same
period.

Second consecutive year of top score for National Grid
For the second year in a row, National Grid
U.S. has scored 100 percent in the annual
Human Rights Campaign Foundation's (HRC)
Corporate Equality Index (CEI) for the
company's commitment to creating a fair and
equal workplace. The award was presented
during a spring seminar and reception and as
part of the recognition National Grid will be
included on HRC's "Best Places to Work" list.

Gov. Baldacci signs legislation passed by state Senate and House of Representatives
The Human Rights Campaign, the nation's
largest lesbian, gay, bisexual and
transgender (LGBT) civil rights organization,
issued the following statement after Gov.
John Baldacci signed legislation recognizing
marriage equality for same-sex couples under
state law. The state Senate voted 21-14 and
the state House of Representatives voted
89-57 to pass the legislation and send it to
Gov. Baldacci for signature.

GAY FOR GOOD: CLEANS UP THE LA RIVER

members of "Gay For
Good," cleaning up and removing trash
along the Los Angeles Rivers as volunteers
for "The Great LA River Clean-Up." This is
Gay For Good's fifth volunteer event this
year, donating over 100 hours to non-profits
here in LA County.
