Inaugural-Themed Facebook `Online March for LGBT Equality` Gains Momentum
 
Ten of thousands have already joined virtual protest planned for Inauguration Week

Equality Matters, an organization working for LGBT equality, launched "Online March for Equality" to coincide with the historic Inaugural activities for President-Elect Barack Obama, scheduled from January 17 to 24. Organizers are asking members of Facebook and other social media sites to change their profile pictures to one of several "badges" created by the group. The badges highlight the critical rights being denied LGBT Americans, including the ability to file joint taxes, make medical decisions for a spouse, sponsor a partner for immigration or receive government benefits such as Social Security.


Right Rev. Gene Robinson to Deliver Invocation for Inaugural Concert at Lincoln Memorial
 
Robinson is first openly gay priest to be ordained bishop by Episcopal Church

The Right Rev. V. Gene Robinson, bishop of the U.S. Episcopal Church in the diocese of New Hampshire has accepted an invitation from President-elect Barack Obama's inaugural committee to deliver the invocation at a concert held at the Lincoln Memorial. The concert, which will be held on Sunday, January 18th, is the first inaugural event the president-elect will attend. Bishop Robinson, the first openly gay priest to be ordained bishop by a major Christian denomination, is a member of the Human Rights Campaign Religion Council.


Lesbian and Gay Band Association to Perform in Obama Inaugural Parade
 
This is the first time in history that a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender group will march in a Presidential Inaugural Parade.

The Lesbian and Gay Band Association (LGBA), a musical organization comprising marching and concert bands from across the United States and around the world, has been chosen to perform in the parade for President-elect Barack Obama's inauguration on January 20, 2009. This is the first time in history that a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender group will march in a Presidential Inaugural Parade.

Queer Lounge Celebrates More Than 40 LGBT Films in Park City with Guests and Panelists

Queer Lounge, a program of the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) has announced its panels, events and programs for this year's Sundance and Slamdance film festivals in Park City, Utah. Presented by ABSOLUTŪ VODKA, Queer Lounge will be open from January 15-21 to raise visibility for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) films and filmmakers in Park City.

`Out in the City` Highlights Significance of Gay and Lesbian Culture in New York City

NYC & Company, the City's marketing, tourism and partnership organization, in partnership with Logo network, today announced the air date for a new short documentary promoting New York City's dynamic and diverse lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) culture. The thirty-minute documentary will air this Friday, Jan. 16, on Logo, part of MTV Networks, at 7:30 P.M. EST.
