Children's Museum Has a New Home, Long-Term Partnership |

United Way of Pierce County and the Children's Museum of Tacoma entered into a potential 25-year partnership in March with the signing of a ten-year lease, with options for three five-year extensions. The Museum will lease approximately 8,700 square feet on the first floor of United Way's historic Betye Martin Baker Human Service Center at 1501 Pacific Avenue in downtown Tacoma.
The new location will further enhance United Way and the Children's Museum's partnership in Education. The pair have been working with other local partners to increase the number of Pierce County children who are ready to learn upon entering kindergarten.

 Volunteer Appreciaton Week |
United Way of Pierce County is one of the premier places for volunteers to connect to projects. In 2009, volunteers logged nearly 200,000 hours of service through United Way. Programs like ACT NOW, Project:U, Youth United and RSVP make it easy for all ages to find projects. In addition, United Way's Volunteer Center has opportunities for all interests. Individuals or groups, one-time projects or recurring positions, the Volunteer Center can find the
right fit.
United Way also offers volunteer opportunities through the Days of Caring. In the spring, a half-day event gives individuals and groups a chance to get involved. For many local companies, our fall Day of Caring is the perfect team builiding activity and is a great way to kick off a campaign.
April 18 though 24 is National Volunteer Appreciation Week. The value of the hours volunteered in 2009 through United Way is over $4 million. Thanks to our generous volunteers, organizations throughout Pierce County can better serve our most vulnerable neighbors.
Special thanks to all the volunteers who lend their muscle to make Pierce County a better place! |
