NEWS FLASH
UWPC Receives 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator for 4th Consecutive Year
 Charity Navigator Logo
United Way of Pierce County received a 4-star rating for sound fiscal management from Charity Navigator, an independent national service that evaluates most of America's largest charities. Only 6% of the charities they track have received four consecutive 4-star ratings and only five United Ways nationwide. UWPC is the highest rated United Way of our size. According to their analysis, UWPC "outperforms most other charities in America".

Charity Navigator evaluates ten times more charities nationwide than their nearest competitor, and attract more visitors to their website than all other charity evaluators combined.

Time/Talent/Treasure - so many ways to give

GIVE THE GIFT OF YOUR TIME
Don't have a lot of extra cash to donate this year? Why not consider a gift of your time instead? It is fun and rewarding to volunteer, and it doesn't take a lot to make a big impact in someone's life. Plus, UWPC makes it easy to connect you to opportunities through our Volunteer Center.

As an added bonus, some companies will match employee volunteer hours with a financial gift to the organization!

Here are a few ways you can connect:
1) Contact the Volunteer Center at 253.597.6688
2) Email the Volunteer Center at volunteer@uwpc.org

UWPC Recognized as Afterschool Hall of Fame Champion by SOWA

School's Out Washington (SOWA) annually recognizes several individuals and organizations in honor of the work they do in building community systems to support quality after-school programs. SOWA recently recognized UWPC as a 2008 Afterschool Hall of Fame Champion (the highest recognition extended by SOWA).

This recognition is the result of a strong relationship between UWPC and SOWA which was built through the Youth Development Impact Action team chaired by Maria Casella (who is also a UWPC Board member).

Congratulations to Maria and her team!

Your campaign photos and videos wanted

Is there photographic (or video) evidence of your United Way campaign this year? If so, we'd love to see it (and perhaps share it with others if you're agreeable). Please contact your Account Executive or Nicole Milbradt (nicolem@uwpc.org) if you're willing to share your photos and/or video footage. Thanks!
Back to School Drive a Success!

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year's "Back to School is Cool!" event. Donors went above and beyond for Pierce County kids who didn't have school supplies. Your generous cash and in-kind gifts totaling $24,906 served 1,100 children through giveaways and 91 kids through sponsorships. You get an A+!
